I have a Dell J740 Inkjet printer that I am trying to use with my new Mac with no success.  Apple tells me that Dell printers work only on Windows, and I would have to install windows on my Mac, which I don't want to do.  Dell tells me there are no drivers to use this printer with a Mac. I seem to be out of luck with my perfectly good Dell Printer.  Does anyone know who makes Dell printers for Dell?  They might have a patch or work-around

Dell's Photo All-In-One Printer 964 uses internals similar to the Lexmark P4350's, with corresponding inks and driver software, but adds an automatic document feeder (ADF) and color fax capabilities.
If I could be of further assistance, let me know. If this helps or solves the issue, please rate it.
Thanks, Joe

I need anyway way to get a software download for my dell v305w to print on my mac. I hear you can use Lexmark software equivalents and it is my understanding the equivalent to the v305w is Lexmark x4650....

As you correctly point out the dell printer does not have driver for mac.
I dont think having a lexmark driver will work as the printer will still say its a dell to your computer.
You may have to borrow a printer that is mac compatible or save files to windows format and print on friends computer.

I have a dell 944 printer which is broken is there any lexmark printer that can use the same ink cartridges as I have a quantity of same

I've heard that some are but I don't know exactly which ones. You can look at this site http://www.inkjetsuperstore.com/lexmark-printer-ink-cartridge (and look at this page you'll see what I mean. You can see that your cartridges are compatible with some lexmark printers but it's hard to track down specific model numbers. I would call their customer service and ask them. I'm sure they could tell you.
Good luck

Says "NO COLOR CARTRIDGE".

Try this:

According to the Dell website, this is how the cartridges for the Dell All-In-One Printer/Copier/Scanner Model AIO A940/A960 are supposed to look like. (see attachments)
Black cartridge P/N: 7Y743 with U-shaped "lump" on the (black) lid. (equivalent to Lexmark "82")
Color cartridge P/N: 7Y745 with square with corner cutout "lump" on the (blue) lid. (equivalent to Lexmark "83")

BUT, the black Dell cartridges have the identical corner cutout "lump" as their color cartridges. In other words, they have the lid from the color cartridge, but in black instead of blue.
Both cartridges are made by Lexmark and rebranded for Dell. But Dell made the black cartridge intentionally with a different "lump", so customers are forced to buy expensive Dell cartridges.

Stupid actually, because now the black and the color cartridges each fit in the other's slot!

Beat Dell at their own game, don't pay their rip-off prices!
When you open that Dell printer, lift the black lever that closes over the black cartridge. From the underside of that lever you will see a small "pin" sticking out, that corresponds with the corner cutout "lump" (as depicted on the color-cartridge). Cut that pin off with a sharp knife or a wire cutter.

All of a sudden, the cheaper Lexmark "82" black cartridges fit in (and any other remanufactured equivalent).
Money in your pocket!

Im trying to connect a dell v305 printer to a new mac

NO Dell do NOT support Macs on there printers - BUT most of Dells printers are re-branded Lexmark engines - so if you can find the equivalent lexmark - you may find a driver lexmark makes all of dells printers the v305 or v305w is a lexmark model X4650. the Mac driver is here http://support.lexmark.com/index?page=content&productCode=LEXMARK_X4650&actp=PRODUCT&id=DR9768&segment=DOWNLOAD&userlocale=EN_US&locale=en

Is the Dell 1710 made by lexmark? if so which model is it

Hi,
Yes they are.Dell printers are made by Lexmark. The 1710 is actually a Lexmark E240 in Dell clothing - a very highly rated printer and a top pick by Buyers Lab Inc (7,000 pages without a single paper jam according to BLI). HP has a bogus comparison of the Dell 1710 with the HP 1320. HP never actually bothered to test the 1710 and based its comparison on the 1700, not the 1710. I can tell you that the 1710 first page out is 8 seconds, not the 34 seconds that HP states. Also, the HP 1320 is TWICE the price of the 1710, so the comparison itself makes no sense (and of course a $159 printer will not have duplex printing!)
Thanks!!

Printer not printing in color; new cartridge, tests are fine

Check your printer settings to make sure the print in b & w box is not selected. Hope this helps.

The mac driver for the Dell 1700 is Lexmark 332N. The mac driver for the Z45 is on the Lexmark web site.
