Question about Dell Dimension 8200 PC Desktop
I removed the hard drive from my old Dell Dimension 4700 and am trying to get it into an 8200. I have the brackets installed and figured out how to plug in the power. However, it does not seem that there is a spot for the 40 pin cable in the hard drive. The hard drive is a Western Digital Caviar SE.
BTW, I am not at all technical so if you are willing to help, please speak in simple terms.
Thanks in advance!
Sounds like the drive from the 4700 is a SATA drive which uses a different connector than the 40-pin IDE. I couldn't confirm it, but the 8200 may not have SATA connectors for this type of drive. Although the 4700 appears to have both SATA and IDE.
