Question about Dell Latitude C400 Notebook

1 Answer

Monitor problem Hia there. Recently, straight after logging on, my whole screen shifts to the right by about 50-100px, and 'shimmers'... the only way to resolve it, is to change the screen output to Notebook, which it should be at to begin with. However, whenever the laptop is restarted it goes back to monitor and notebook display. Any advice would be much appreciated. Jim

Re: Monitor problem

You may be better downloading the latest video adapter driver for your notebook and see if there is any change, as it does'nt sound as if it's a screen problem, it may just be a corrupt driver.

If you connect to a External Monitor is it the same? If you boot to Safe Mode is it the same? Has there been ANY damage? Does the Laptop overheat? Need cleaning? Fan, Vents, Heatsink dusty, dirty? Sounds like a Graphics Adapter is going or gone. Have you done ANY graphics updates recently?

Desktop screen is 3/4 size and shifted to the left

Check out the monitor settings. You need to see the settings and see what size it's set at.

White screen

The white screen you are getting is it just right after turning on the computer? If yes it means that you were not able to see the Dell logo correct?

Try connecting an external monitor thru VGA. While monitor and laptop is on with white screen please do this. Hold down Fn key then press F8 at the same time. This will toggle the display from the laptop to external monitor. If laptop displays to external monitor means that laptop LCD needs to be replaced.

If you do not have an external monitor try this.
While laptop is OFF. Do this. Hold down the D key then press power button at the same time.
Check if the laptop will display colors the whole screen. If you still see white screen then LCD needs replacement.

LCD mean LCD panel or the whole screen together with LCD cable and Inverter.

Hope this helps.

I recently buy LG 1943C 18.5 inch monitor. Can i change the angle of screen such that it looks straight vertically? Currently it is something like this >> / is we see from side. can I make it...

Most monitors have button on them for brightness and such. There should be one that says menu on it some where in the menu there should be a option to change rotation of screen. I you see a button that says auto configure try pushing it first. This will set the monitor back to default setting.
Let me know if this was helpfull.

Our Acer laptop will not show a whole screen of some websites. The monitor is too small. Is there a way we can increase this?

You can increase the screen resolution, however it will make the text and pictures smaller, but more will fit on the page..

Right click the background of your desktop, click personalize, click display settings, and on resolution increase the size one click at a time till it looks how you want it to look..

Or another way is to press control and the minus sign while your logged onto the web page itself your trying to view.

Part of the screen has developed a brown color, shaped like a crescent with brown streaks and within the brown areas it shimmers. What is wrong with it?

Acer Aspire 9810 Screen Problem

Hi No otto,
On the bottom row of keys, you will see one marked Fn, in a different color. Hodl that and look at your top row of keys. Should be one with a laptop screen, and a monitor. The little graphics will be the same color as the Fn key. Tap that once, wait, see if the screen comes to life. Usually that key is set to choose "Just laptop screen, just external monitor, or both", with each tap.
Good luck,
