I unscrewed every screw on my Hoover SH40060 Multi Cyclonic vacuum, but something is still holding it together on the bottom. Any idea how can I take it apart? Thanks

Too late now! But there are 2 additional screws under the power button and cable rewind. Place a flat blade screwdriver edgewise under the back of the button and carefully pop it off. The springs will jump out. These belong on the middle cylinder. There is also a special security screw inside the hepa filter housing. Cut a slot in the middle of the blade of a cheap, 3/16" flat blade screwdriver to get this one out.

How to replace belt on hoover SH40060

You have to remove the roller to get to the belt' look at the face and bottom to find the screws that hold the plate that covers the roller. Take the plate off and look @ the roller, to see where the belt runs. then take the roller out, you should be able to see the pin shaft that comes from the motor, the belt goes around it and over the roller.Be patient putting it all back together, and don't over tighten the screws, they strip easily, Good luck!

My brush stopped spinning, but instead makes a loud plastic grinding noise.

Both ends of the brush roll should spin freely. You need to replace the brush roll.

Replacing belt on brushroll on a Hoover SH40060 canister

Your manual is pretty lacking. Most all brushes have holder guides on both ends, normally the entire brush and guides will lift straight out of the head if the belt is broke, there could be a locking clip, make sure the area is clean so you can see it, but the brush head has to come out somehow or a new belt can't go on, some have the top of the head comes off, the cover, this way you place the belt on the brush, set the brush back in the head, then you set the belt onto the motor shaft from the top.

What ever you do, make sure you watch how the brush comes out and the guides, if you need to take a marker and put a mark on the guides so you know what the top was and how they go back in.
