Tthe check engine light comes on and then goes off. I check the oil cap and it seems that even though it is tight, if I take it off and put it back on, the check engine light goes off in a few minutes. Could this be an oxygen sensor? Also, the VSR light keeps coming on, when the check engine light comes on, but it too goes off when the check engine light goes off. Every time I take it in, I am told all is well and $85.00 please.

Check all fuses, then check the wiring of the two 02 sensors on either side of the cat. converter. If the fuses and wiring are fine, it is likely one of the oxygen sensors; one is about $50 and the other is $200 (parts only). Use only Honda recommended parts, not BOSCH.

The P0141 code points to the O2 sensor heater circuit. It could be that there is a short in the wiring to the O2 sensor or it could be that the O2 sensor heating element itself is bad. The code is for O2 sensor Bank 1 Sensor 2. Bank 1 means its the O2 sensor connected to the exhaust pipe that runs to cylinder #1. Sensor 2 means that it is likely the O2 sensor after the catalytic converter on the same exhaust pipe.

time to get a OBDII diag done for the check engine light. there will be one or more error codes stored and that will point you to the system, probably emissions or fuel, that is causing the problem. once the code or codes is read, you need to pinpoint the exact part that is failing and have it replaced soon or the engine could stall on you at any time.

I would check fuel pressure. It should be somewhere in the neighborhood of 35-40psi. There is a Schrader valve (looks like a tire valve) somewhere in the fuel plumbing on top of the engine. I don't believe the MIL light would come on for low fuel pressure.
Next would be to check the EGR valve. Maybe it's stuck open and dumping exhaust back into the engine
The O2 sensors should throw a code at this point if they were to blame, but can't rule them out yet. They are a preventive maintence item and should be changed every 80,000-100,000 anyway.
Another point to check is the distributor, these cars were known a bit for having that go out, but it usually just won't start.

No cleaning,got to replace.
I would be suspect that two failed.
I would want to know what set the O2 Codes. The codes may be the symptom and not the fault. e.g. something caused the sensors to go out of range and set a code.
Something may, over time be fouling the sensors,IF they are bad.
