Power drain would be a better solution in this case.1.first shut down the comp2.unplug the charger3. remove the batteryand after press and hold the power button for 60 seconds without any charger and the battery. After the 60 seconds replug the battery and the charger and turn the computer.
try to login to the safemode with networking and check it is working or not.
go to bios and do the hard drive test.
if it is passed then do the recovery of the computer

I suggest you return it if it is still under warranty for repair.
It appears that one or more of the operating systems files has been corrupted and needs to be repaired/replaced.
You can try to do a systems repair with the Windows CD and if this doesn't work you will have to reinstall the Windows. Make sure you have the recovery Cd because it contains the drivers for the devices installed on your model laptop.

Susan,
Dealing with overseas tech support people can be frustrating. If the laptop is only a few days old, you really need to contact them first.

Im sure its still covered under warranty, so start there first.
If it wont boot, it could be a number of things.
If you get no where with them, please post back and someone here will try to help.

This sounds like a hard drive error. You should deliver it to a professional, or test it by yourself it that is possible. If you have some kind of warranty for your computer, you should deliver it were you bought it.

Brand new HP dv-4069wm entertainment notebook simply shut down and will not power on. It was plugged in to a working outlet, online via wireless accessed through my phone. Made a short high pitched squeak...

This is what the industry calls "infant mortality." There is probably a defective part in the power management circuitry and it failed. (A failed memory module might do the same thing, although the squeak is more suggestive of a power converter giving up the ghost.) That's why we have warranties; sometimes a bad part gets past quality control. Remove the hard drive and send the computer to a warranty service center.

It sounds like a power supply problem (low voltage), or could be a battery going bad. Also, the vents to the cpu fan could be clogged up and overheating the cpu, causing it to shut down. You can spray the vents and area out with compressed air. Other than that, it will have to be serviced.
Good luck and hope this helps.

My HP Pavilion Entertainment PC had been freezing up for the last week and I had to cut off the power because I was unable to shut down properly. Now it wont power up the screen. What should I do?

You Hp DV6276US has overheated, This is because of dust, debris and Hp's lack of thermal compound that they put on there cpu and Gpu thus you going to have to do some surgery here. Your going to have to access the cpu/gpu and purchase some thermal paste and redo it. You also going ot have to clear the fan inside of any dust bunnies or obstructions. See my tip below I have fixed allot of these laptops.

Click the link watch my videos and see how and what Hp has done and what rip off tech do to other clients by drilling holes with a drill at the bottem of there laptop. All this need was thermal paste on the gpu, Good luck and please do leave you postive feedback and ratings for your free answer today.

oh no, i hate to say this but, you have contracted a serious virus. you will have to grab the recovery disk and insert it. shut the laptop down and unplug for 3 min then, restart and restore the entire unit. do not repair. you will need to totally restore the complete OS. clear all partition's. if you click the repair option, the virus will remain on the partitioned drive.

Pavilion dv6000t screen won't come on.

I had this exact problem with a customers computer andi found out that HP put faulty motherboards in the DV6000, DV9000, Compaq V6000 Series Computers. Thankfully HP fixing all computers for free and extending the warranty even if the warranty has expired they will ship you a box and you ship it off and they fix it at no cost. the turn around period is about 7 days.

Here is a link to an article that talks about it
