Hard drives do not come with OP's ready installed. There will be no information on it. You will have to install something like Windows XP/Vista. To do this you need the installation disc. Without it your computer will not be able to operate.

My toshiba nb520' operating system is gone when i open it says operating system cannot be found.

The hard drive in your laptop is bad and will need to be replaced, first remove hardware and carefully reseat it back in place, sometimes the hard drive will restart, "long shot" if still nothing! have it checked for possible replacement.

I have a gateway 400 VTX that powers on to the Bios screen then goes to another screen that says operating system not found. I have tried to load the os cd and it looks like its loadind and says windows is...

Sounds like u need to go into CMOS (System Setup) upon boot & make sure that the HARD DRIVE is the FIRST item in the BOOT ORDER and NOT your CD DRIVE. Also, make sure your Hard Drive shows up in the CMOS. If it does, then note what it says about the hard drive as it boots... If it is a bad hard drive, then nothing will install to it unless it is fixed or replaced.

Bought a used laptop from military savage. When I turn on computer says no operating system found.

This is usually indicative of either the fact there is no hard drive installed in the system, or the hard drive is blank and there is no operating system. The third possibility is that there is a problem between the motherboard and the hard drive, not allowing the interface between the two to work. Check the hard drive and its connections first. You can always remove the hard drive and using an adapter attach it to another computer so it will be recognized as an external drive and access the drive for viewing the files if there are any.

Gateway NV5214u doesn't boot

I'm sorry to have to tell you this but it sounds like your hard drive has gone bad. If you bought this as a factory refurbished unit you can go to gateway.com for help with a replacement hard drive, I can't promise how much help you'll get.
Otherwise, you can buy a replacement hard drive from one of several online computer parts sellers. The problem is that you'll have to replace the operating system unless you have a recovery disk. If you don't have a recovery disk be sure to order an OS at the same time or you'll end up buying the more expensive retail version. Estimated cost of doing it yourself $175-$300 depending on OS and hard drive choices.
If your not knowledgeable enough in computers to change the hard drive and install the OS yourself then take it to a friend that is, taking it to a repair shop will most likely cost you more than it's worth.
I hope this is helpful.

M465E with start button goes to Gateway page and then will not open to windows, says operating sys not found

First make sure you have no USB sticks, CD/DVD's or anything else attached to the laptop and try again if you did. Otherwise, this is likely either a file system issue or a hard drive issue. You may use a Windows CD or a rescue CD like BartPE to run chkdsk on the drive in question. That will fix any NTFS errors and hopefully make the drive usable again. If chkdsk fails, then the hard drive will likely need replaced.

Gateway m 1625 operating system not found and its overheating

This means either the operating system on your hard drive has become corrupt and you will need to reinstall your operating system or, more likely, your hard drive has failed and you will need to replace the hard drive and the operating system.

As for your heat issue, use a can of compressed air and blow out all the vents on your laptop. This should help the heat issue; note that it is common for the laptop to feel hot as it is dissipating the heat from inside.

Thanks and please take a moment to give this solution a thumbs up rating with a solved solution as I answered your questions. Thanks.!
