Most electronics stores including Radio Shack would have fuses. Check the rating and amperage of your original one first before replacing it - make sure the new one is rated the same (and is the same size) as the old. Should be a simple fix if that's the only problem you have.
I'm not sure if ordinary universal remotes would work on the player. I would suggest trying the auto-set function on a universal remote first to see if it works. If not, you can buy a remote specifically for that model for around $20 at this site:
Thanks for using FixYa. Make sure
the Red and White wire is connected into your TV “AUDIO IN” and the Red and
White wire is connected into the L & R. Also check that the DVD player
Audio setting Analog Out is set to “2 Channel” and the TV is turned to the
correct Video line (AV Input/Video Input 1,2,3.etc). Once your TV is turned to
the correct video line, you should see the “COBY” logo and it will work
normally. If still the issue persists, then you’ll need to reset the DVD Player
for which you’ll need to follow these steps---
Using the DVD player remote
control: Open the Tray and press the “PROG” button and then press the “ZOOM”
Once the above procedure is
performed the tray will be closed which means the DVD player has been reset
back to the factory default settings.
Please do accept the solution if
the issue is resolved or else revert for further assistance.

Did you use the reset instructions that are found on a sticker on the top of the player? If so, and the unit is still asking for a password, this might mean the V-Chip or parental guardian has been activated. Please call the customer service number above so see if there is a master password available.
you feel this solution doesn't deserve a good rating, please let me
know why so that I may better assist you. If there is anything more I
can do to help, I will!
If everything else seems to be functioning, try using your remote to reset the TV. There is a setting to switch the TV from being a TV to being a screen, or monitor, for the DVD player. What the button is labeled varies by manufacturer. It may be: TV/DVD, input, source, display, or something else. Display, for instance, displays the choice on the screen. Highlight and select DVD or perhaps the brand name of the DVD player. This compliments of the Vancouver Radio Shack super geeks.
BAD NEWS.....I READ THIS FROM THE COBY PRODUCTS WEBSITE: COBYUSA.COM.....
What is the code to program my Universal remote with my Coby DVD player?
There is no code to program our DVD players with your Universal remote, you need to use the remote that came with the player.
