Question about Belkin (F5D5231-4) Router

1 Answer

Connection issues My belkin router won't work with my laptop. I installed this about 1yr ago and was working fine. Now all of a sudden the "Connect" light won't go on. Power button is green, WLAN button is green. Lan 2&4 are orange. WAN is off. Is there a quick fix to this? The Belkin icon on my laptop is green and it shows a connection but I can't get online. Thanks

Re: connection issues

Retain your password and user name if any, go into routers set up browser to find this. Press the reset button on back of unit with a pen tip. Go to your pc's and go into properties of your network cards and in the internet TCP/IP properties ensure obtain IP address automatically is selected. Go back into the routers settings (normally in your web browser.) Make sure DHCP is enabled to automatically assign IP addresses. Type in any password and user name. Also check the cables as an orange light means either no connection or only 10 Mbps instead of the normal 100Mbps. If you still have trouble you may need to clear the DNS settings so go to Start then Run and type:- ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.(note the gap between ipconfig and the /).

I had to put my computer back to factory settings and now my Belkin wont go on wireless. It does work if i plug cable in.Is there anything i can do?

I see you set Windows back to defaults as you mentioned and now your Router will not go Wireless.
First Restoring Windows Back to Factory Defaults will not reset your Routers Settings to Defaults together with Windows.
So Most Probably the issue is since you restored windows back to factory defaults you may need to install the Wireless Driver again on the Machine / Computer to make your computers wireless card work again and be able to detect and connect to your Belkin Router.
try a difefernt device that can connect wireless to your Router or maybe a different Laptop to see if the Belkin is working fine wireless.
If any other Laptop will not detect the Belkin then try turning the Wireless Radio ON again in the Router Settings of Belkin.
But I suggest to check all your system drivers if installed for it to be wireless capable again on the issue, Restoring Windows back to Default will not change anything in the Belkin Router. I believe this is a Driver issue on the Wireless card of your Computer.
You mentioned the system does work if plugged in Wired right, check your drivers install every driver that needs to be installed from the Manufacturer Website of your Computer for proper and compatible drivers.
Have a nice day.

Bought router in 2009 and worked fine up until about a month ago. Every couple of minutes will disconnect. Wireless connect on laptop shows it is connected. I get page not found. Soon as I unplug it...

try updating the firmware to the latest version.
it may fix any bugs or wireless issues in the update.

All green lights are on but laptop can't connect

With your laptop, you must in any event turn off, DHCP, START>>RUN>>services.msc enter... then scroll down to DHCP, and set to OFF, & Disabled. Check that hasn't somehow been re-enabled. You may just have to note down your settings and re-setup your router again... then using the connect to internet wizard, use that to connect to router, this will re-initialize everything.

My two laptops were connected to my belkin ni router all of a sudden disconnect and refuse to connect back should turn off the router and computer. 2.turn off the modem. 3.disconenct all of the cables. 4. connect all of the cables back. 5. restart the modem, router, computer. if you are able to connect, it is fine. otherwise try to connect the laptop directly to the modem and bypass the router and check if able to go online.

Router won't connect to the internet

I managed to figure it out. I had to clone the MAC address to get the router to connect to the Internet.

I still have another problem though, my laptop still won't connect to the router. I'm using Vista, is this a possible network adapter issue? My laptop is fine at connecting to other wireless networks round my friend's houses/libraries...

Bad connection. dropped internet when connected with mac wired or wireless

I'm not sure but it could be that the particular router has some hardware issues. I bought a Belkin wireless N router a few months back and i had the same problem. It only had a short range and kept cutting off in between. I exchanged it with a new router and voila!. it works fine.
And the other thing i've come to notice. At times having the router under the desk or at a corner might not give off enough to provide a connection within the adjacent room so I've had to place the router in a open and unobstructed place. So much for belkins super signalling.

Router issues?

If you haven't made any changes and suddenly your wireless connection has stopped working than these are the signs that your router is offline.
Now first of all check that on your router have you got the dsl or the internet light solid if it's not solid then it could be a problem with your broadband line...check with your isp whether the signals are there on the line or not.
Now, if the signals are there then...
1) Do a complete power cycle of your router unplug all cables from your router replug them then check....

if still you are not able to open up any pages on ie...then reset your router to default settings...
in order to reset your router at the back of your router you will find a small hole that is the reset hole press the pin in that hole for 10secs that will reset your router....restart both of your comps....
Now, if you are using windows xp then
click start>control panel>in control panel click on switch to classic view>after that click on network connections>
in network connections you'll find wireless network connections....right click on wireless networks..
then click view wireless networks you'll get an option of belkin wireless it and press connect....
once it says connected close all the screens and run the router installation disc that you got with your router will be able to connect..

If you are on windows vista then
click start>then in start menu click connect to you'll find belkin network select it and press connect once connected run the router installation disc...
