Question about Vacuums
When I run the Bissel Spotbot I am unable to use the manual hand cleaner, it will not work when trying to select it from the controls. When I try to turn on the unit to use the main system it starts up, but when you hit the stop button it will not stay off, but will stay off as long as I hold the stop button. I must unplug it to keep it off.
Thinking it has to do with the control panel I was looking into trying to get to the panel, but i'm at a loss on that. It's already out of warranty of course, so that's the only reason i'm getting into the system.

The brushes will only work if the handle is released and the ProHeat vacuum is running . There is a micro switch inside the lower handle that switches on the DC carpet brush motor. The DC power for the motor comes from a Bridge Rectifier on the PC Board. firstname.lastname@example.org

You probally have a clogged line. Either take it apart yourself and manually unclogg each line (requires a compressor) or take it to a local vac shop and have them do it.

I had the same thing happen to my S251. Open up the vac. There is a third hidden screw in the groove where the accessory door is hinged. It's really well hidden, use a flashlight. Once its open, you'll have access to the power cord and you can test its conductivity. I didn't really believe it could be something as pedestrian as that, but the retractable power cord takes a lot of abuse, and eventually it fails. Replaced mine and the vac works great.

I just want to make sure that you still would like help with your Bissell. As you may see from my profile, when I help someone out, I always spend considerable time answering questions, taking pictures, and really making sure that you know how to fix the problem. Before I spend so much time doing this, I like to follow up and make sure that A. there's a real customer I'm answering, and B. that you haven't already fixed your machine. If you'd like me to walk you through this troubleshooting, please just add a comment here on the repair page.
