Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t Notebook

1 Answer

Safe mode my laptop starts in safe mode and stay in safe mode HP DV2000 series laptop, Vista home and student, switches into safe mode for no apparent reason. A lot lately. And then on rare occasion will revert to regular mode. I will go get a cup of coffee and when I come back, it will be in safe mode. I will close the laptop and reopen a while later and it's in safe mode. Restarting sometimes helps but not always. It also would not start up fully once. The lights came on and it just hung there. After several attempts witht the power button, I removed the battery and the ram and reset them to get it to come on. (A trick HP once told me to do with another HP laptop.) Does anyone know why it would revert to safe mode and if I can stop this occurence? This item is only 1year old. I have hp verve notebook its my sisters its only starts up in the safe mode i tried going back to a restore point but that doesn't help any ideas out to get it out of safe mode

Hi there, Try tapping F8 on boot to access the boot menu select "start windows normal". if it will not let you boot in to safemode with cmd promt and run "chkdsk /f" to check for bad sectors and repair othere HD issues. Also try "Last known Configuration" as a last ditch effort before moving on to System restore. IF system restore options fail to work let me know and we can do a system restore and restore your system to an earlier time through the cmd prompt. Good luck and i hope this helps

Help my hp dv2000 just keeps restarting??

Hi,

As the computer is working in safe mode, it is clear that operating system files are corrupt.

Perform a repair installation, if it is Windows XP.

For Vista or Windows 7, you can perform system restore from recovery console. To launch recovery console, insert the disc- restart the computer and boot into the disc. Choose repair in the options tab, then choose system restore from the list.

Regards,

Nags

Misplaced MS Office Cds & having to replace hard drive on laptop.

If you are able to go to the Safe mode, you can try Last Known Good Configuration first. You can also perform system restore in Safe mode. To do this go to start>programs>accessories>system tools >system restore. Choose a date when your system was working fine. Then restart the system and check if it can start in normal mode or not.

I cant seem to log on

try starting in safe mode. hold down f8 when you turn on your computer until you get a menu with the option to boot in safe mode. once you successfully log on in safe mode, restart your computer and the problem should be cleared. if not, we can explore further options.

I want to install xp on existing vista, also wanted to remove vista on hp dv2000 labtop

If Vista it is working well on Safe Mode, you have to check it out what is going wrong there instead of downgrade the system to XP.

Remember: Which was the last program that you've installed?

When was the last time that the system started normally?

You can try uninstalling the last programs

Also clean the computer and be sure that your pc is not virus or spyware infected.
