# Locating the inverse key for trig. functions

I am learning about inverse functions in Algebra 2. I have a Casio fx 300MS calculator and cannot locate the key. I do hope you can help.

Thanks,
Joe

Hello,
Use [SHIFT] [COS^-1], [SHIFT][SIN^-1] and [SHIFT][TAN^-1] the keys are the same as the direct function, but they are accessed via [SHIFT].
Be carefule with the angle units when handling trigonometric and inverse trigonometric functions
Hope it helps

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
Goodluck!

Mode>choose "5"
choose equation format "4"
input the coefficient for a which is "1" and hit "="
input the coefficient for b which is "4" and hit "="
input the coefficient for c which is "3" and hit "="
input the coefficient for d which is "12" and hit "="
Hit "=" for X1
Hit "=" again for X2
Hit "=" again for X3

Alot of people have this doubt, so I might as well make it clear.

Press the 10^x button (while pressing SHIFT, of course; it's exactly above the LOG button) followed by the number whose antilog you desire.

Example :
Let's say we need antilog(-6.8),
1. Press SHIFT, followed by LOG (i.e 10^x); this'll display a 10 on the screen;
2. Type in -6.8;
3. Press "=";
4. This'll display 1.584893192x10^-7 as the solution, which is correct!
5. Bye, lol :P

By [2nd] log and then the number it's the antilog.

Hello,
Here is the solution for th FX-991ES.
Hello,

The error may be due to the key you used to signifie inverse. It says in the manual that you should use the key x^-1 not the one used to input general powers.
Here is screen capture from the Appendix to the manual. The picture shows the sequence of keys to press to obtain the inverse of a 2x2 matrix. It is taken from page 41 of Appendix

The matrix used in the exemple is
a_11=2 a_12=1 a_21=1 a_22=2

The link is for FX991ES. Look there foe you manual.

Hope it helps

### How come when i try to do inverse trig function on my fx-9750 gii calculator it says Ma error?

Just wondering if the other functions are working.

The manual references setting up angle unit and setting up the "comp for mode" in the setup.

The keys you should be pressing to do this calculation are on page 51 (2-31) of the attached manual.

Good luck. If unsuccessful, please repost.

### Inverse of ln

To calculate the natural antilogarithm (inverse logarithm ) of a number, press SHIFT [e^x] then enter the number and press =

The e^x function is the shifted function of the ln key.

### How to take anti log in casio fx 991 ms and give example?

Depending on the actual log function you are talking about, the inverse function (what you call the anti log) can be one of several things.
The inverse of the natural log (LN) is the exponential function e^x.
If y= ln(x) then x=e^y
On a calculator functions that are inverse of one another share the same physical key. If one function is marked on a key, the inverse function is usually the SHIFTED (or 2nd) key
The inverse of the common (decimal logarithm) is the power function with 10 as base.
Example: if y= log(x) then x=10^y
For an arbitrary base (must be positive) if y= log_b(x) then x=b^y.
Note: I do not think that the FX-300ms can perform log calculations in bases other than e (natural log) or 10 (common decimal log).

### What is d use of hyp function??

The hyp key is used with the cos, sin, and tan keys to compute the hyperbolic cosine, hyperbolic sine, and hyperbolic tangent functions (and their inverses).

The hyperbolic functions are computed the same way as the trignometric functions: simply press the hyp key just before pressing the desired trig key.

### Inverse Functions on Casio fx-270W PLUS don't seem to work

because cotangent, cosecant, and secant are all inverse trig functions, just type in 1 / |shift| trig function and the number if you are finding the angles. It might not be a dedicated button, but its an extra push, and it will give you the same result. *note that I put the shift press only because that is how you get the inverse tan to get an angle from a tan ratio.*
