Question about JVC KT-SR2000 SIRIUS Radio Receiver with Car Kit
I've had my JVC KT-SR2000 for a little over a year and the red backlight for the LCD screen just stopped illuminating. The LCD still works but you can't see it unless you are an inch away from the screen. I have both the car kit as well as the home dock so I really don't want to change units. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Sirius Radios got VERY HOT and it would destroy the LED lighting in the units. XM seemed to get it under control by using a 5volt or 6volt power supply, but the 12 volt Sirius radios were almost fire hazards to the point that I had to run a small computer fan on mine to keep the display working; until I junked the radio.

Great solution! I only got as far as opening up the unit to the sirius tuner and then ran out of time.
Thanks for the "key" to the puzzle!!

Ditto - JVC KT-SR2000 backlight doesn't work (watched die yesterday), after 2 years, 10 months. Sadly JVC no longer represents quality.
Note: Original JVC KT-SR2000 was a fire hazard - defective from start - overheated hardly describes it. BestBuy replaced first month.

I was able to fix mine, and blogged the process:
JVC KT-SR2000 backlight repair
Of course, opening the unit voids the warranty, but if it was still under warranty, you wouldn't need to know how to fix it yourself, would you? :)
Hope this helps!
