Question about GE Profile¿ 26.5 Cu. Ft. Stainless Side-by-Side Refrigerator with Icemaker, PSS27SGRSS
Well, the solution to this problem was posted in this thread
It seems that the bulb in the front panel is pulling to much current as it ages and it makes the control panel in not work properly. Removing the bulb will fix the problem - just fixed mine.
Also seems to match your symptoms (works sometimes and then not others - bulb current is inconstent, light dims when dispense lever pressed - again wrong current draw).

I have the exact same problem with mine. Ice/water dispenser operates intermittently and sometimes light is dim, correct? Something may be aging in the control circuit but I don't believe that it is the bulb. An aging incandescent bulb would have a higher resistance and therefore would draw less current. I'm thinking that removing the bulb may alleviate some of the current draw on the power supply circuit for the control board but will replacing it fix it? Anyone done this and has this worked for a long period of time?
Thanks to all.

1) Electric Water valve check up.
2) Water/Ice dispenser control check up
3) frozen plastic pipe inside door or/and chilled water container frozen
4) old water filter (clogged)
