Having found a circuit diagram, realised that the divertor valve was electrically operated.i unplugged this then unclipped the motor from the valve body, the diverter valve is spring loaded and once i'd removed the motor the spring raised the valve to divert water through the dhw heat exchanger, giving us hot water but no heating, if i refit the motor the problem comes back heating no dhw.ordered new motorised valve assembly £30 next day order .
this was a simple fix without having to drain the system down.

over heat limit stat on central heating circuit ? if hot water is ok and hot to temp when run for 5 minutes the expansion vessel is doing its job.remember hot water is the maximum demand for any boiler ,,heating is secondry?once you establish hot water at maximum rate then the only real problem is on you demand for heating??

I have a Heatslave 12/14 oil-fired combi boiler installed approx 8 years ago. A problem has just developed on the domestic hot water side. My local heating engineer has investigated but so far hasn't...

Symptoms sound like crossover might be part of problem:
Crossover is when cold water enters hot water line due to faulty plumbing part like check valve, mixing valve, or bad faucet cartridge.

I have the A01 fault on my Ariston micro Genus HE 32 MFFI combi central heating boiler.. I've cleaned all the electrodes etc. it does spark correctly etc, and can't see it shorting out but fails to ignite...

image_bubbleanswer_02.gif image_bubbleanswer_03.gif image_bubbleanswer_04.gif the A01 fault code is nearly always down to the pcb, 99% of the time in fact, its a common fault, but not common enough for ariston to be responsible for boilers out of the warantee. you can normaly check this yourself, while the tap is running check if the electrodes are still sparking even after the gas had lit, this means the pcb is not detecting the flame and trying to relight. eventualy it will lock out with a A01 code, if u reset it might work for a short time but eventualy u will get to the stage where it will no longer resart.

if your handy you can replace the pcb yourself, there is someone selling them on ebay for £85 thats a steel, its half the trade price never mind retail

Ariston Micro genus 11 Only getting hot water no central heating

Check the heat exchanger. Often they and gummed up.& you will have to try & flush it out or replace. If this model has the cylindrical type, they are pigs to do.
If this machine is 10 yrs old or more, you might find it better in the long run to have a new boiler
Just a thought, but I assume that the valves on the 3/4 " central heating pipes are turned on
Parts to look forward to later - fan £80 - pump £65 - heat exchanger £110 - diverter valve £65 - pressure relief valve £45

Pressure of Ariston Microporus 27 MFFI

the boiler reqs to be pressurised to 1 bar in a cold state, in operation the heat expansion with cause the gauge to rise by about half a bar so in full working mode with heating on you'll expext the gauge to register around 1 1/2 bar-
