Question about Sony Televison & Video
I'm trying to fix this for a friend who loves this tv even though its seriously outdated. He said he was watching it and it just shut off and would not turn back on. Possibly due to a power surge, but all his other equipment was fine- cable box, and stereo system on same outlet. He said he heard a faint pop, but that could've just been the relay or something.
The set does not do anything at all when the power button is pressed. No click, no red light, nothing. Because of this, I suspect the power supply board is at fault. Here is what I have checked on the power supply board:
No visual indication of blown capacitors
Main fuse (F60) not blown
Large balast resistor (R623) fine
Transformer (T605) fine
Next I will check functionality of relay (RY601) and connect to power and check at test points, but I need some help with that since I do not have a service manual for this set.
Its power supply issue and you need service manual to repair power supply on component level.
Get service manual from Manual Zone with little fee and test power out.
KV-27V25 is 1996 model and very much old.
