Question about Lexmark X5495 Printer
Greetings to all.
I recently purchased a Lexmark X5495 4-in-1 (print, scan, copy, and fax) for use with a Dell Inspiron 1720 laptop running Windows Vista Home Premium. The printer connects via USB. So far, I've been able to print, copy, and fax, but not scan. So far, I've spent four hours working on my own, and three hours on the phone with Lexmark support. Both the techs via remote control and I have uninstalled and reinstalled (with and without Norton Anti-virus running), unplugged and re-plugged USB, tried different USB cable, disconnected and reconnected printer power, and uninstalled and reinstalled software with downloaded software from Lexmark downloads. Nothing works. I've even searched the net and tried installing ABBYY reader which came with printer software, but even that didn't help. Scan part just doesn't seem to want to install and/or work. I keep noticing in device manager that the device is not correctly installed. When I attempt to reinstall the driver, I either get a message that the driver could not be located or that there was an error in installing it.
I transferred files, programs, and settings (I think) from my old Windows XP laptop to this one via PC Mover and Laplink. I've checked files and drivers ad nauseaum. I even purchased a program called ''RegCure'' to help correct problems, but even that didn't work.
Can anyone offer a solution? Given specific directions, I think I could correct the problem if I knew what to do.
Thanks in advance for any assistance anyone can provide.
Go to www.isohunt.com and download driver detective with key. Install driver detective. And let it to search for the drivers your system needs to operate any hardware. When it searches the drivers for your MFP then install it.
