Question about SanDisk 2GB Secure Digital Memory Card

1 Answer

I have a 4.0 GB SanDisk. When I insert into my camera it give me an error "Memory Card Error" then says the card is locked. I have checked the slide button on the card and it is in the unlock position and it will not allow me to format in my camera. Is this disk defective?

Yes it sounds like the disk is defective and I have seen these bad so its definitely the most likely possibility. Sounds like the switch itself to unlock it is bad. Good luck and thanks for using fixya, please take a moment to rate my solution I hope you fin it fixya appropriate.
Thanks,
Lee

You can get one on sale for under 15$ even 10$ now. If it is under a year old it will still be covered under their warranty as this is a defect.

I have a SanDisk SDHC Card class 4 4 gb and it won't work in my Canon Power shot SD630, I get a memory error that says card is locked, however card is not locked, what camera canI use this card in?

The SD630 works with MMC and SD cards, 2GB or smaller. It does not work with higher-capacity SDHC cards.

Your SDHC card can be used in any camera that accepts SDHC cards.

My sandisk memory stick pro duo has shown up file error in my pictures so when i go to transfer them on to my computer it can't get past the error how do i solve this?

Without knowing what the specific error is this is my best guess:

SOLUTION 1 - Unlock the memory card.
There is a Lock switch on the left side of the SD card. Make sure the Lock switch is slid up (unlock position). You will not be able to modify or delete the contents on the memory card if it is locked.

SOLUTION 2 - Toggle the lock switch.
If the lock switch is not on lock:
1. Slide the switch up and down. Repeat this 3 times.
2. Let it stay on the Lock position for 30 seconds.
3. Slide the switch up to unlock the card.
4. Try to transfer files into the device.
