Question about Tappan TEF242 Electric Kitchen Range
When I plug in my Gibson stove/oven the fust downstairs blows out it does not matter if I have a 30 amp or 20 amp fuse it sparks at the wall and blows fuse out, I can not see any obvious defects with cord I am wondering if there is a fuse inside the back panel that could be blown?
SOURCE: Oven fuse blows - Nothing works
try lifting the stove top assy and checking wires under main top, leading to the elements them selves??? if tis tripping and not allowing to reset its gotta be an obvious short. isit hard wired directly to stove or into a 220 cord and plug???id look again, perhaps remove entire back panel and have someone trip on the breaker you might see where it flashes as it trips off

This sounds like a main control problem. More specifically like one of the relays is shorted. You will need to acess the main control and carefully inspect it for any burn marks. If you don't see any disconnect the main power supply wire going to the main control. Then plug it back in if it trips the breaker the problem is in the power cord or wiring from the cord junction to the main control. If it does not trip the breaker the problem is the main control.
