Question about Hotpoint WMA48 Front Load Washer

Hotpoint WMA 48, tripped house rcd, no lights on and water heating noise.

During a wash programme, the washing machine caused the house electrics rcd to trip, when the power was restored, and the washing machine plugged back in, the lights do not eluminate on the washing machine now, and when it put onto a washing cycle, nothing happens, but a noise is heard coming from the machine, which appears to be the water in the machine heating up. Can anyone advise on what is wrong. Thanks.

Need to know a little more really but here goes, if you remove the top and the drive belt is still on then it will be as straight forward as the motor brushes at fault they will need replacing as this is a common fault on these machines. hope this helps

My Bosch Classixx 1200 washer causes the household RCD to trip

The first thing I would recommend u do is to remove the motor and check the carbons for wear, Their should be at least 3mm of carbon showing, any less then u shud replace.
The other possibility is a faulty heater element, u cud try it with the element disconnected, if it does not trip then the element is faulty.
Plz rate my solution.

It's unusual for a household RCD to go out on excess current from an appliance - the fuse in the plug top and circuit fuse/MCB in the consumer unit should provide closer protection. This leaves you with an earth fault. Earth faults aren't usually related to motor load. Watch carefully what phase of the cycle the trip happens. Does it correlate with the start of water heating? A very frequent cause of low current earth faults is water ingress into the heating element. If you can trip the RCD reliably on every cycle, running the same cycle with the element disconnected would confirm whether or not this is the cause. A.
