Often times, it is useful to be able to show other people exactly what is on your computer screen. However, often times they are not with you. To solve this problem, take a screen shot and send it to them. Note that this tip only works with Microsoft Windows computers (Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7, etc.)
- To take a screen shot, simply press the "Print Screen" button on your keyboard. This might say "Print Screen," or "PRT SC". Pressing this will take a virtual picture of everything on your screen.
- Open Microsoft Paint. If you don't know where Microsoft Paint is located on your computer, press the Windows Key and type "Microsoft Paint" in the box, and then select the program.
- Once you are in Paint, select "Paste," or press "CTRL+V".
- Save your screen shot to whatever location you choose by selecting File>Save As, or by simply pressing "CTRL+S".
- If you don't want to save your screen shot, but want to email it to somebody, you can paste it directly into the body of an email by pressing "CTRL+V" or by selecting "Paste" from the right-click menu.
- If you want to take a screen shot of only one window, first select the window you would like, and then press "ALT+PRT SC". Follow the above steps to save it or email it.
There you have it. Taking a screen shot and showing anybody exactly what is on your screen is simple if you follow these easy instructions.
