I recommend buy a CD or DVD top shelf burner and player for about $50. They are a whole lot easier to use, better quality, more portable, you don't overwhelm your computer, etc. Doing this in your computer can take several hours. Or you can follow your instint and get a video/music card capture.....you may need a technicial to add and configure it to your needs....more money.

What is the easyist way to convert a DVD-D computer output to Firewire I can plug into a DV video recorder and record what is playing on my computer?

wouldn't it be easier to just download a program that records your desktop?

I have recorded single track on to rewritable disc. on windows media player . it has been finalised will not allow me to record another track to disc. How do i do this? many thanks ALEX

If you are using CD +/- R cds or DVD +/-, you can only write to them once. Once something has been written to the disk no mater how small, that is the only time it will write. In order to add multiple tracks to a disk you will have to create a play list that will fit on the disk then burn the entire list all at once. The only disks that allow for multiple write capabilities are CDRW +/- or DVDRW +/-. When using those types of disks, make sure you do not overwrite the tracks that are already installed on the disks.

Dell Dimension 4600 creative sound blaster card

It sounds like you may have broken your sound card. I had the same problem when I tried to digitise my old 4-track recordings.
I tried the broken card in another PC, found that it was not working, so I went out and bought a new sound card.

Computer will not record written information on disk

Goto the system properties>Hardware>Device Manager>Disk Drives and double click on that hard disk name. Then goto the policies tab and mark the checkbox of "Enable right caching on the disk." If it is already selected then it means that there is a problem in your hard disk, either you purchase another hard disk or replace it or check it in another system.
