Question about HP Officejet 6310 All-In-One InkJet Printer

2 Answers

I can't install my HP 6310 to my computer. It goes just so far, and then hangs forever and doesn't install. Does my USB port need to be updated?

I've been searching for an answer to an issue that is nearly identical.

    1. Using the drivers provided on the disk or downloaded does not matter in my experience.

    The symptoms:

Stick disk in or install from downloaded files.

    - The install starts but is extremely slow. It goes into the 2nd step of 4 saying "Overall Progress - Preparing to Install (Step 2/4) 94%"

My computer laptop has been running for 4 days and its' at 94% which is beyond ridiculous.

    Computer Specs:

    Dell D620 dual core processor

    160 or 180 gig drive

    4 gig ram.

the other symptom is the speed at which the driver says it is operating at as it is "Searching for installed applications" ranges between 2KBps and 9KBps.

    I just don't understand it.

I have the same issue as Fr. Tom. I have Dell D620, the HP software load disc just hangs. I have tried dis abling firewalls to no avail. Also direct download from HP website seems to just start the same ridiculous slow process.

    1. I installed the drivers for the printer a while back, and it didn't take this long, but now I am trying to install the entire software package for the 6310 Officejet All-in-One so I can use the scanner and other picture software, namely the scanner.

Frankly I'm loath to stop the install process after 4 days with the suspicion that it's going to take longer if I abort it now.

Try removing the printer (i.e. disconnecting the usb or network cable), then uninstalling the drivers in Device Manager (ignore any warnings about being unable to use the device, etc). Next, remove the logical printer icon from My Printers.
Then try a fresh install following the instructions precisely and in the correct order and see if that helps.
Is this hooked up to the network or usb? Did you install it with usb first and now trying to change to network cable?
Good luck.

Have you connect it prior to installation? Is the Setup Disk is new and have you checked it if not worn out with any scratch on it. Check also if you get any error message of missing file in it.
If the CD is culprit, Go Online to download the Software and Driver for your Printer.

After reading the description, I think you need to try updating BIOS and latest device drivers for USB. Because USB are getting power on that means there would not be any fault to from the motherboard.

So please try updating latest BIOS for your notebook.
If you can provide me the product no for your notebook and the operating system which you are using currently then I can find the one for you.

Otherwise you can also do the same.

Type in the product no. on www.hp.com. Then go to software and driver download page, select the proper OS and search in BIOS ROM pack available for your notebook.

I hope this will help.

HP Officejet 6310 drivers will not install

When you install the printer wait till you are prompted to hook up the usb cable. If you hook it up sooner that is the problem. You can have the usb cable to printer but not to the computer. Then run your install disc and you should be fine.

Only if you have fax software on your computer and scan an image to the computer to fax, otherwise you need a really long phone cable you can buy at Radio Shack or Best Buy.

All in one 6310 -- reset power with lights

Normal 0 This doesn’t help fix all printers because each situation is different and in most cases we don’t have enough information to determine the fix. So hope this will provide some help.

Could have a corrupt driver.
Disconnect the printer or at least be sure it is turned off. I'd do both and when the CD software program asks you to connect the printer to the USB port, do so and it should again work properly.
Hope this helps. Bud
