Question about Maytag MSD2756G Side by Side Refrigerator
It sparked and caught fire at start device combination relay and overload.
Can it be fixed or are there other problems that may have caused this to occur.
Im a little reluctant to fix it, thinking the problem my reoccur when I am no
not at home and cause a major house fire. I had the same problem. Luckily the fire was contained to the fridge. Mine is six years old. I can't decide to fix it or replace the whole thing. I am waiting to hear from Maytag. Has this been recalled? I have read that this has happened to many people.
Tough call but. the entire start relay kit and cap can be replaced. it is usually surrounded by metal and if it does fail is not a major source of concern as far as a fire. stink yes, but nothing around it to flame up and cause a major fire. performance can be checked immediately after parts are replaced, and if it starts ok then you are as safe as you would be with a brand new unit if it had the same problem!good luck
