Question about Kodak EasyShare DX6490 Digital Camera

1 Answer

Repeat downloading of drivers needed

Hi! I have a camera that I just love, Kodak EasyShare DX6490, BUT! this last year has begun requiring that I download the drivers (same 6.0.2 one, too) almost each time I go to download photos. Now this is a real pain in the tookus because I sell online, need those photos uploaded swiftly vs. having to wait a stinkin' 35 min. (I have DSL) each time I download. AND, last night I redownloaded the drivers again (same one as always) and it's NOT working for me. I thought when it wasn't working for me last night it was because I had to shut down/reboot my computer. But, turned on my computer today and it's not working. What gives? I'd hate to part with this camera but all this wasted time is getting rather irritating.
I see there's a free 7.0 driver software....which I'm wondering if this would be what I need..... except I'm in a Mac and OS 10.3.9. With this OS, can I download & use 7.0? Can you tell me, without going into exorbitant cost, please, what I need to do? Is it critical I upgrade my OS and THEN follow that so my iPhoto drivers match? I like to keep it simple (money is tight) if I can, but I still would like to know what the problem is & fix it if I can.
Thanks so much for your help!

Hello, sounds like you need to uninstall the Kodak software package completely and reinstall it from scratch !!!! Sounds like software error and not a fault of the DX6490.

SOURCE: Kodak EasyShare C653 Camera, cannot connect to my macbook

Hello my friend,
The easy way to upload pictures to your computer is to take the memory card from your camera and insert it to the memory card slot of your computer. i'm not sure if MAC has this slot on their computers but you can look for a PC or Laptop to do that.
if you don't have a memory card slot in your computer, you can by an all-in-one memory cards reader which is very cheap.
Best Regards,

a jpeg is not a standard photo file. You want to set it for jpg. Take the USB hub out of the connection. Connect the camera or card reader directly to the USB port.

Hi i have kodak DX6490 digital camera, and the videos will not upload to my computer through any program any help?

In order to transfer photos from your camera to your computer, you need to

1- Install the drivers for your camera. The drivers are located in the CD which came with your camera. If you do not have the CD, go to Kodak web site and download the drivers for your kodak from here:

http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=13179&product=EKN035311

2- Connect your camera to your PC.
3- if the drivers are installed correctely, click start, and then the computer icom. There should be an icon with name kodak....., double click that and you probably see one or more folders with your save pictures.
4- Now you can copy or cut and past one or more pictures from your camera to your computer. I hope it helps you.
Good Luck!!!!

Kodak DX6490 Not Charging

mine did the same thing, only it hadn't been dropped. Turns out, the battery went bad. The repairman said that the life of those batteries is only about 3 years average. He also said the average lifespan of the camera itself, with frequent usage, was only 3 years! I am still hoping to get the auto focus fixed on mine though. I sure did love that camera.
