Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

1 Answer

I have two windows accounts, one administrator one just a user. The administrator one will print to my new lexmark printer, the user will not. Even if i change the user to another administrator it still won't print. The print spooler icon appears when you ask it to print something, then that disappears and nothing happens

Ok.
you have installed the printer locally to the admin profile, log in to the computer and check printers and faxes, see if the printer is dislayed, if it is then you need to change the default printer setting (right click > properties)
if not you will have to install the printer as the user profile (log in as admin and make the user an admin)
This is a really common problem with microsoft.
Hope that helps.

try switch to an account that have Adminstrative privileges, if your account is the only account and is Administrative the you have a serius issue about virus, the only thing to do is save your printing job, but also can try
go to start
then select switch user
(no log off because you close the progran until this keep telling you you have *program in use)
if you can get out with switch
then before the welcome window apear try pressing Ctrl+Alt+Del

then an window with an account name Admin and the free space to put an password you can try this to get into that account...

by default the Admin account it´s without pass...

try, if the problem don´t get solved then you need to go to control panel and user accounts, try to make an new account without pass and make it Administrative, if some how you can´t create an account and then appear an window telling you that you need Administrative privileges you are very ******* because the only thing i can think is format your pc...

Trying to load office 2003, keep getting message, requires elevation

This feature can be seen in XP as well as Vista computers. if such error occurs in xp try making a new user account with administrator rights and then try to install office 2003. also check the services.msc from run window and be sure that the windows installer is started.
In case of vista try installing from administrator account and if this is not working create new user account with administrator rights. even if this gives the problem then User Account control (UAC) should be turned off. this will probably solve ur problem.

My lexmark 4850 wireless will not communicate with computer

Disable any Firewall/Antivirus you have running and try a new print.
If still an issue, go to Start - All Programs - Accessories - Right-click on Notepad and choose 'Run as Administrator' (if on Vista/W7). Try to print this notepad document. If it prints, it's Windows User Account Control that is blocking the print. This can be disabled in the Control Panel - User Accounts.

If it's wireless, you can try re-installing the printer using USB connection in order to eliminate the wireless network as the issue.
If it's still an issue, you can check your computer manufacturers website for updates for your chipset (USB drivers).

I have an "instance" of a printer driver installed that has 12 print jobs waiting in queue to print and I can't print them nor delete them. I can't delete the printer either. It is an hp deskjet F2110...

Are you logged in as an"administrator"? Only administrator accounts can make changes like this. depending how Vista was originally set up, you may STILL have limited privileges as an "administrator" due to the "user account control" feature. I don't use Vista, but this is a complaint I've heard frequently. You can turn this off. check out this link for how to do it:

Printer will not print

Create a New User Profile like Test Account and try printing from that account and check if its printing from there..
How to Create a New User Account ?
XP
Start>Control Panel>User Accounts>Create New Account it shoul be admin...
Vista
Start>Type User Accounts in Search>Click User Accounts>Manage Another Account Create New Account..
If its able to print fine in new account then that means the profile of your old account is corrupted..If its doing the same thing in new account also ..Reinstall the Printer driver in the following Method..
Disconnect the Printer
1.Click>Start>Control Panel>Printers and Faxes and delete the The Printer that you are reinstalling the driver for delete all if there are more than 1 printer of the same.
2.Go to Control Panel>Add/Remove Programs> Uninstall the Lexmark related Programs
3.Restart the computer
4.Start > Run > Type in "cmd"
5.now you will have command prompt Type this and hit enter "net stop spooler"
6.Click>Start>Run Type in "C:\WINDOWS\system32\spool\drivers" Hit Enter
7.You will have the following folder open rename the W32X86 folder to W32X86.OLD
8.Restart the computer
9.Insert the Lexmark CD and start installing the software Note : Connect the Printer only when the installation is prompted to connect..

This should defnitely take care of your problem..
Note if you are using vista try this first
Start type msconfig open that go to tools tab and disable UAC and restart and check..

Have a z708 lexmark printer can't instal to my computer have no instalation cd

  1. Uninstall any previous versions of the driver:
    1. Click on Start, Programs (Windows XP: All Programs).
    2. Go to the Lexmark folder and select the Uninstall program.
    3. Follow the prompts to continue the uninstallation.
    4. Restart the computer when the uninstall program is finished.
  2. Log on to the administrator account (generally the first account that is set up on the computer). Note: If you have purchased a ready-made system and did not install Windows yourself, you may need to contact your PC manufacturer to find out how to log on to your system's administrator account as this will differ from system to system.
  3. Install the printer again using the latest driver software. Note:
  4. Before you start downloading the software, make sure your printer is on and connected to the computer. If the software requires you to remove your cable during installation, it will prompt you to do so.
    1. Create a new folder on your desktop and call it Lexmark.
    2. Go to our Drivers and Downloads center.
    3. Note: The name of this site/page may be slightly different in your region/country.
    4. Click Printer Driver.
    5. Select the Related Product Name from the drop-down menu.
    6. Select your Operating System from the drop-down menu.
    7. Select the desired Language from the drop-down menu.
    8. Select the latest Driver File and click on the File Name to detach it to the Lexmark folder on your desktop (see step 1).
    9. Once the download is complete, open the folder and double-click on the file.
    10. When the WinZip Self-Extractor screen appears, click on When done unzipping file open:<the printer file name>. (The name will appear beneath this option).
    11. Click Unzip. The installation program should autorun. Follow the on-screen prompts to install the printer.
    12. If the installation program does not autorun, double-click on the newly created LXK___ folder for Setup.exe. An installation program will run. Follow the on-screen prompts.
    13. If you are prompted to install the printer for all users, click Yes.
    14. When the installation is complete, restart the PC.

  5. Try printing from the administrator account first and then from the user account that exhibited the problems in the first place. Both should print to the printer.
  6. If the administrator account works and the limited user account does not,
  7. click here for additional information.

Cant get printer to unpause

This printer issue can be solved by stopping and restarting the "Print Spooler Service" under the Administrator Tools Section in Windows. I guess you can do the same if you use Mac OS X too. You must have administrator rights on your user account to do this I think.

This link from HP explains the simple process and it will work even if you use another brand of printer (Lexmark, Brother, Canon, etc.):

The Ultimate Printer Fix

I hope this helps everyone who has had this annoying problem.

May everyone be blessed and prosperous!

Lexmark-3400 install trouble.

Try installing the disc as Administrator account as opposed to a generic user account.

Most problems with Vista stem from the strict protocol of not being able to modify windows in any way, unless logged on as Admin.

This may also be the case for several other applications or programs as well.
