I need a new tuner board for my jvc lt32e488 tv.  problem is that no one can tell me the part number.  jvc needs the part number to order a new one but the service center says the part number isn't on the old part.  How do I find the part number? jvc is now ignoring my emails asking for further assistance.

You may have to take the back off the unit and get the part number from the current tuner board. You may also check shopJimmy on ebay. they are a good source for parts.

JVC RX 515 receiver

The fault is on the tuner section of the receiver. FM radio signals are processed by one IC in the tuner section. Since you can hear the station, it won't be that one. The only other is the Stereo Decoder. The radio signals are passed to this and that splits the signal into the left and right channels. If you can't here one of the channels then the Decoder IC will have failed. If you are lucky the board will label the IC, otherwise find the tuner section (look for coils). Then read the numbers of the IC's. If there are several enter each number into Google and find what it does. If you find one that says "decoder" or "FM multiplex" that is the one you need to replace.

How to troubleshoot sound problem on I ART PRO JVC 56. No sound.

A low buzz suggests the audio detection circuit in the set may have failed---I would first see if a DVD connected to a rear input works or not--rules out almost anything except the audio circuit in the set.

I have seen a number (need a model number) where this happens--audio is detected and most of the sound circuit is on one board---had one of the DLP sets a few years ago almost brand new with this issue---board was not available yet so set go exchanged and JVC told us to keep the set.

With a scope I traced audio from the tuner in the set into the audio output and the defect was there--no parts for set so placed board on order (backorder) and 3 weeks later it arrived and I replaced it (40 minute job as sandwiched in the set---sound now perfect.

Point here is if on that board you are going to have to replace it or send it out for rebuild (not to JVC).

Check first if you have not that a DVD alone either does or does not have the same problem.

Is jvc av-32d503 digital ready or do I need to buy a converter box for use with an outside antenna system

Looks like you'll need a converter.

Here's some background info:

Analog TVs were made up until 2007.

Digital tuners for over the air signals are called "ATSC tuners".

To tell if your TV has one:

-If the TV was sold as a "HDTV" or "DTV", it's supposed to have an ATSC tuner built in to it. "HD ready TVs" do not have a digital tuner.

-Check the specs in the owners manual or google the make & model of the TV to see if it has an ATSC tuner.

-If your TV's menu has an option for scaning for digital channels, then it has an ATSC tuner. If it dosen't have a way to scan for digital channels, then it doesn't have a digial tuner.

Most DTVs also have a digital QAM tuner that is used in some (but not all) cable systems.

My tuner has quit working. All other inputs work okay. TV is 4 years old. Is is worth repairing? If so, what is neede to fix it?

Your symptoms sound like the tuner has just stopped working. I have replaced tuners in sets for years and the repair is not the difficult if you have a low wattage soldering iron, I would recommend a 45 watt iron.

I know if may sound simple, but the tuner is a small silver box inside the set on the signal board that is replaced as an entire unit. I usually remove the signal board to remove the tuner and install the new one, just be careful with the circuit board while it is out.

I usually order my parts from Andrews Electronics in California, they will have the OEM components that you will need.
Their site is http://www.andrewselectronics.com/welcome.aspx
And their phone number is a 24-Hour Order Desk: (800) 274-4666
I recommend the phone order so you can talk to a person and get a status on price and availability.

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue.
If I have helped you, please help me, and rate this suggestion the highest FixYa rating. (Two Thumbs Up)
Please Note: If you cannot rate this post with the highest rating, then please do not leave any rating. I am doing this for free and I do not think that any rating other that the best is needed.

CANNOT TURN OFF CLOSED CAPTION ON 52" JVC TV

Does it use a cable box or are you using the tuner in the TV?

If you're using the tuner in the TV, try unplugging it for 5 minutes and then plug it back in, do a new channel scan and see if the CC goes away. If not, contact JVC to find out how to reset it. If it still does not work, you might need to have your main board replaced.

If you're using an external tuner plugged into a video input port (such as a cable box or satellite box) then the external box is at fault since TVs don't have CC available through their composite or component or svideo or hdmi ports.

Power board for jvc hd52g886

you can try removing the 3wire plug that runs to the ATSC tuner (1orange wire 2 white wires). This will tell you if the tuner is causing the shutdown. This is a common problem.
