Usually the default settings work. Have you tried just connecting it to see if you have internet access. If that doesn't, work I'd contact your ISP for assistance, although you should have received setup instructions - they may be on the disc if you explore it - not run.

You can try calling Dell to see if they will send you a re-installation CD. If it's out of warranty they will charge you for it. Either way you will need to have the OS (operating system software) CD to re-install Windows XP or Vista.

I cannot install software, cd rom will not recognise

I suggest you contact the maker of the software to see if it is compatible with Vista.
If it is, they should be able to help you with the install.

Need new software to download scanner information from cd as cd is for windows98/2000/millennium only and my new computor is windows vista.

Downloading the software from the cd wont help you. But you can just try running it and seeing if it will install. Windows Vista needs specific drivers for scanners, if it doesnt detect the scanner and install it then you need to go to the scanner manufacturer website and see if they have an update. or you can use a progra like VueScan, it doesnt need the drivers installed it will install the scanner and allow you to scan whatever u need

Hope that helps

I purchased a lexmark X3470 and it will not install to my computer...I have Vista. I really like the printer and do not want to return it

Dear Sir/Madam,

Attention Windows Vista Users
If you have installed your printer on your PC using an original Lexmark Driver CD that came with your product and you are experiencing problems when printing, you may have installed the Windows XP driver.

Follow these steps to resolve:
· Disconnect your USB cable from your printer.
· Uninstall all Lexmark printer drivers on your PC.
· Download the correct Vista driver for your model.
· Install the driver on your PC.

Important - Do not reconnect the USB cable until the install software prompts the question of how the printer is connected.

It is highly recommended to always use the most recent driver version available.
Do not forget to check with our site as often as possible in order to stay updated on the latest drivers, software and games.

Try to set a system restore point before installing a device driver. This will help if you installed a wrong driver. Problems can arise when your hardware device is too old or not supported any longer.

Thanks
GOOD LUCK

How do I re-install vista software without a CD?

1. Has your mate reformated the hard drive when loading XP?
2. Do you have the Product Key?, (This should be on the case on a little Microsoft sticker)

If no to question 1, you need to contact the company that sold you the PC to get a copy of the software CD, as the Vista OEM software you need to re-install has been deleted.

If no to question 2, you you need to contact the company that sold you the PC and get one, or report them to Microsoft.

Transfering mail setup from Windows xp to a windos vista machine with EasySuite

I'm not 100% sure about vista because I hate it but I can help you copy all of your outlook express data to a CD\DVD disk & your address book. Your network settings for express account is a phone call to your ISP.
If vista's explorer is set up like XP you should be able to copy your data into outlook express.
Open all these folders on you XP system.
User name\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Copy the Outlook Express folder to your CD.
User name\Application Data\Microsoft\Address Book. Copy Address Book folder.
Making sure you have everything.
Open, User name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{xxxxxxx}\Microsoft\Outlook Express
Compair the two Outlook Express folder files. CD will not allow copy of same named folder.
If Vista's lay out is the same as XP than copy Outlook Express folder to Vista.
Suggest you have your current ISP setting /account setup before copying to Vista

Let me know if this works for you!
Good Luck & Kind Regards.

I have installed BT home hub broadband and since then Macromedia wll not open. Error message 'entry point not found macromedia.exe. It then says tries to open and gives an error message 'The procedure...

that sounds more like a permissions issue, with your settings on your isp/browser...

when changing ISP's it's sometimes necessary to 'train' that interface for your usual work places.
