How do i erase internal memory

Your question is not quite clear as to which content you wish to erase; however, if you mean to erase or delete photos stored in the camera memory, here is the process.
1. Switch off camera,
2. Remove SD Card,
3. Close cover and switch on camera,
4. Go to view mode and chose what to erase. Follow the standard procedure for erasing photos. Check to confirm that photos have been deleted/ erased
5. Switch off camera again and re-insert SD card.

Hope this helps - and please check to indicate if it does!

How to erase memory card

ALTERNATE WAY TO TRANSFER PHOTOS AND VIDEOS TO A COMPUTER
If your photos and videos are stored on the memory card, then remove the memory card from the camera and insert it into an USB memory card reader. Connect this USB memory card reader and memory card into the USB port of your working computer. Your computer will see this as an USB Mass Storage Device or an external storage device; you can then open the folder on the memory card and copy the photos to your computer. Memory card reader is a handy device and is inexpensive. You can copy photos from other cameras and you can also download photos off your memory card to someone else's computer without the need of installing any programs.
The quickest way to erase the memory card. Go to the camera's Menu and scroll through the settings to Format memory card then format the memory card.

You can recover pictures from canon camera with camera recovery software, download this one names asoftech photo recovery that helped me before
http://www.asoftech.com/apr/

Take note that you'd better remove the memory card from camera, and then connect the memory card to computer with a card reader.

If needed, you can do a quick format of the memory card, and then use asoftech photo recovery to recover the photos.

Here's a video tutorial for camera photo recovery

How cani unlock my camera? i cant delete my pictures?

Erasing a memory card: when erasing a memory card, individual photos are deleted from their directories on the card. You can erase one or more user selected images at a time, or erase all images at one time. However, any images that you've selected to be "protected" through another menu option will not be removed during the erasure process.

Formatting a memory card: format a memory card sample menuFormatting, on the other hand, deletes all images from a memory card, even the ones that may have been protected. It recreates the file system including new directories and folders where images are saved on the card.

Unlike erasing, formatting improves the overall performance of a card.

Low level formatting: some digital cameras offer a low level format in addition to the standard format option. With a low level format, all data on the card is deleted. New directories and folders are also recreated during this process.

A low-level format of a high speed memory card helps ensure smooth continuous shooting at a constant interval. For optimal video performance, it's also recommended that a low level format be done sometime prior to recording.

In camera, not computer: though opinions vary, many recommend formatting a memory card in a digital camera, not via a computer. If you plan to use a memory card that was previously used in another camera, format the card in the new camera before taking any shots.

Hope this helps and just keep in mind that your feedback is important and I'll appreciate your time and consideration if you leave some testimonial comment about this answer.

Card error. can't do anything

  1. Try using a new, clean, pencil eraser, to gently rub the contacts on your memory card making certain no to leave any rubber shavings on the card.
  2. Un-install and re-install the card 10 -20 times (this will rub the inside contacts clean an re-align the card)
  3. If that doesn't work and you absolutely have to have the photos on that Memory Card, you can purchase any one of many Memory Card Photo Recovery Programs, available by searching recover photos from memory card.  Here is One Example (no necessarily a recommendation as I have never used this or any photo recovery software)
  4. Finally, from the camera's menu, Select <Format>, you will lose any pictures you may have on the card but you should be able to rectify the problem

PowerShot A570 IS- accidently erased pictures and video by resetting settings to default. Want them back, haven't taken pictures or video since I made the mistake. Thanks!

If you are using a memory card, take no more pics until you've recovered the photos, take the card out of the camera. This is to reduce the chance of you overwriting some of your "lost" photos. There are many good freeware photo recovery software options that are available to help you recover your photos. This blog article reviews and outlines several of the better ones.

It Says 'Card full'

If you are sure you have downloaded all of the pictures you want off of the card, try re-formatting the card. There should be a function within the menus on the camera to format the memory card, but be aware that this will permanently erase all of the content on the memory card.
