The two resistors were likely burnt out with a convergence IC (chip). these are usually a stk392-120 on a philips, or simmilar. the alignments can be very tedious and difficult. what needs to be done is replace the ICs that control the colors that are mis-aligned. you might see that the green is square and straight, but the red or blue is off. in most cases, i would just change both convergence ICs plus the bad resistors. then go to your full re-alignment of convergence to fix the picture. hopefully the previous owner didn't mess anything up too much (if they changed anything on the CRTs ie yokes, lens focus, centering magnets it could counteract your electronic adjusments). before you put too much time into it, look to see that all 3 colors are atleast focused and it appears that the CRTs have been left untouched. once you get circuit repaired, you will probably want a service manual to help with alignment. this complexity may bring you to want to just pay for this repair, could run you anywhere from $200-400 depending on severity and local rates.

The convergence ICs and resistors need replacement. The DPTV305-345 convergence repair kit works for most Phillips rear projection Tvs. The kit contains the two ICs 12 resistors and the CD with detailed instructions

Text/images overlap each other in 3 colors, 3D distorted picture

Here are some of the most common symptoms and example photos of a convergence problem

  • Screen looks 3D
  • Colors don't line up
  • One or more colors can't be adjusted when using the convergence menu.
  • Screen is bowed or warped.

Here is a quick test....

Using your original remote go-to the tv settings then goto the convergence section.

Try to adjust the red and then the blue convergence.

You should be able to move them up, down, left, and right.

If you can't move them in all directions your convergence chips are bad and should be replaced. This is a common problem.

You need to replace the convergence chips and convergence resistors. Check the site www.TvRepairKits.com. They have put together a kits for most models. If you don't see a kit for your set send them a quick email and they will put one together for you. Their kits includes photo instruction guides, original Sanyo STK chips, convergence resistors, pico fuses, etc.

This television needs to be repaired by a qualified service center or replaced. There is no adjustment that can be made at home to fix the problem you have described.

Yes its the convergence ICs. You will need ywo STK392-120 ICs and about six of the 6.8 ohm 1watt metal resistors to repair the issue. You can get replacement ICs and resistors at the following link and they will provide free instalation instructions with pictures so you can easially do the repair yourself and save about 400.00. Here is the link.

Magnavox 9p6034c 60in projection tv

I fixed my problem,it was the optocoupler no 7412 on the large signal board, the TV
wouldn't come on at first,so i disconnected the audio amp and convergence
boards to check for a short, after which it started to stay on,with them disconnected. I was then able to check the 130 volt supply. It was only reading 104 volts and would not respond to any adjustment to the pot. when i changed the 7412 opto the 130 volt supply started working and i was able to adjust it.Now if i can replace the crt coolant and put it back together without breaking anything.I purchased the optocoupler from
mauser electronics the number is HCNW136-000E for $1.80 each
PS:figured solution after reading a few post.

Philips 55PW9363 looks 3d

You need to replace both convergence ICs they are STK392-120 this is an easy repair that you can do yourself and save yourself around 400.00 for about 45 minutes work. You can order the new ICs at the following link and they provide free installation instructions with pictures and also free online support with a support tech while you do the repair. I am one of their support techs. You would also want to order at least 4 convergence resistors and they send the proper ones for your model as often a couple resistors go. Your model uses 6.8ohm 2watt 5% metal film resistors. So to recap you will need (2) STK392-120 Convergence ICs and (4) Convergence ICs . very inexspensive repair if you do it yourself. here is the link.
