Question about HP Pavilion dv2000t 14.1" Notebook Laptop PC (Intel Core 2 Duo T5500 1.66 GHz, 1GB RAM, 100GB HDD, D... PC Notebook
I have an HP Pavilion dv2000 laptop. Can you tell me how to get the S video cable to work? When I hook it up to our TV it can not pick up the signal. Im not sure what we need to do. One suggestions was to press the fn and f together to switch monitors, but that does not work either. Any suggestions?
This can be done a couple of ways. I hope I am right in assuming that you are using Vista. If not, let me know. Not all F keys have the same functions on different laptops, so am not sure if you're pressing the right one. The one you should be looking for will have 2 square boxes (1 white, the other filled in, seperated by a vertical straight line).
If that is the one you've already tried, then I would assume the laptop hasn't been set up for external display. Connect the cable to the external display, click on the Start Menu, then All Programs. Open the Accessories folder, then click on Windows Mobility Center. Click on connect display.
If you have an NVidia board/chipset, you can right-click anywhere on your desktop and choose the TV Setup Wizard or Multiple Display Wizard. Once either of these are done, you should be able to switch between the two displays.

SOURCE: S video question
pushing FN is not able for TV. it for VGA out.
TV must be AV mode. you need to S video cable plug in the both side correctly. and then you will have a view. if you dont maybe your S video out is not working.
