hello! unless your "Bose" has an optical or coaxial digital stream audio inputs, there is no way of connecting TVs audio output to your receiver(home theater). to by pass the TV itself, connect analog audio output off your cable or set top boxes. those, still have analog audio out. If you need to connect more audio sources, use TV as a video monitor, connect all the audio outs to your "Bose", instead. In case of terrestrial broadcast, you may need to obtain digital converter box and use it simultaneously with TV to get your audio out. Also, if you lack DVR, that box will allow you to use regular DVD recorder. It's not going to be HD quality, but better, than nothing. You can't feed HD video signal out of TV set.Only analog. good luck, Alex.
Do you really have TV Audio OUT to a DVD (last sentence)?
Most DVR's have digital and analog audio outputs. Since every device they are intended to feed would have its own volume control a DVR output volume control might be redundant. Treat a DVR like any other audio device. Connect it to any available input on the receiver EXCEPT PHONO.
If you run the audio from the DVR (and EVERY video source) directly to the STA-795 you can bypass the TV and its questionable audio electronics (yuk). You can split the analog output of the DVR with y-cables and run it from the DVR to TO the TV for casual viewing and listening through the TV sound system (news, Oprah, etc).
You don't name the model but if there's asettign for audtomatically selecting digital vs analog when both are attached it's losing the digital signal and automatically switching to the analog feed. Find it in the manual. lacking a setting, it prefers digital over analog and will switch to analog on digital signal loss.
Analyze what source(s) are involved and investigate WHY you're losing the bitstream. Optical cables must be run with smooth loose bends so the light strength is not compromised.
I'm a little confused by your use of 'composite' with audio, as in "Does anyone know what would happen if I ran both composite audio and optical audio both to their respective TV/SAT IN input jacks on the STRDE935 ?". What is composite audio?
The manual claims on page 48 that you can't record digital audio out to the analog REC OUT jacks.
make sure you are using a parallel analog cable if you have it connected with HDMI or a Digital audio cable. Digital signals do not get passed to zone 2...make sure analog cable is to the right DVR input on the Denon.
The Digital video in this unit bypasses all the processing and is shot directly, so that narrows it down to the processing circuitry that the analog signals must pass through to get to the optical block. The AU board in this unit has given me issues before, so it would be my first guess. It could be the UU or the B2, but the only bad one I've had with these boards was due to water damage, so I doubt that it is the problem.
The AU is located behind the UU (the one with all the connectors). Part number A-1217-798-A. Good luck.
Couple of possibilities:
Press Audio Select on front of unit until "Analog" changes to "coax/opt"
When you select the component connected to the MULTI CH INPUT jacks as the input source (see page 38), this unit automatically
turns off the digital sound field processor, and you cannot select sound field programs.
