It is a older model - I'm guessing 5 or more years. Numbers from the casing are: Series PD1005, DPEND-P400/6 4/N4C US

Compaq Serial No. 6836-BW43 J575. There are tabs on each side of the front face of the casing. I've tried pressing inwards and pulling. Something moves a bit but not sure if it's the casing or the front face plate.

Turns on with no display and beeps

The motherboard is unable to talk to the computer's video card , RAM, or CPU. you'll need to open the case up to troubleshoot and re-seat the components/figure out what's wrong. (or of course bring it to a computer repair shop if you don't know what you're doing inside the machine).

Moved my desktp computer PJ506AA and it now will not turn on. Light in back is flashing.

Try re inserting the cables connected to your CPU, if it doesn't work,
you need to open the CPU case and re-insert the IO cards inside, it might also needs cleaning inside but a technician might be needed to do the cleaning correctly, due to sensitive parts inside.

Try to watch videos on how to insert IO cards on other sites, for your guide. Good day and good luck.

Solid Red light on hp compaq 6000, instead of green light. Does any one know why?

Yes, it means a bad Power Supply.

Try cleaning out the inside of the computer first. Use a can or two of compressed air for computers.
{Computer unplugged from power, Anti-Static Precautions observed}

How to open the computer case:

1) Work on a table
2) Computer unplugged from power
3) All cables removed from desktop unit
4) Observe Anti-Static Precautions

Under the Service and information heading, left-click on the second file listed -

Maintenance and Service Guide: HP Compaq 6000 Pro Microtower Business PC

(11Sep2009 / PDF / 11.15MB )

This is a PDF file. The computer you are using now has Adobe Reader on it, which uses PDF files.
After you click on the above file name it may take up to 30 seconds before the first page comes up.
It may also take additional time for the file to fully download.

{Took 22 seconds for the first page to come up, and no additional download time. Using medium speed DSL connection }

In the Bookmarks menu to the left, click on the + sign to the left of - Removal and Replacement Procedures Small Form Factor (SFF) Chassis, then on Access Panel

Or go to Page 123 using the page number box at the top, and the Down Arrow.

Clean the inside of the computer out. pay special attention to the Processor Fan, and the finned Heatsink under it.
Also use the plastic straw in the Power Supply's ventilation holes. Try to clean out the inside of the Power Supply the best you can.

(Hold onto the plastic straw with one hand, and the can of air with the other hand. If you do not, the plastic straw may come loose, and shoot inside the case of the Power Supply)

After cleaning close the computer case, reattach all cables, plug the computer back into power.
WAIT 1 minute, turn the computer on.

Still no?
Then it's time to replace the Power Supply.

The exact Product Number (P/N) is on a white Service Tag. On the back of the computer, or on the side. Usually next to the Windows product key.

Not opening the cpu case

Hello,
According to HP, to open the case do the following:
  1. Unplug all cables except for the power. Write down each cable location if you do not already know where it connects.
  2. Unplug the power cable and with the power cable removed press the Power button.
  3. Remove the screws on the rear of the desktop (Your PC case may appear different than the images in this document). Figure 1: Example of screws for the side panel kytechnology_9.jpg
  4. Slide the side panel off from the rear of the desktop. Figure 2: Removing the side panel kytechnology.gif

The case should now be open.

Please let me know if I can assist you further.

Desktop computer fan runs constantly

Hi,

Desktop fans do run constantly, you cannot avoid this.

The reason they get loud is because there will be a build up of dust on the fan blades.

To rectify this problem turn off the computer and remove the power cord from the rear. Then you need to remove the side panel from the base unit to expose the motherboard.

You will see that inside the case it is full of dust. Look at the CPU fan (the fan on the motherboard) also take notice of any case fans too, they are at the back.

To clean the fans and the case you can use a clean dry paintbrush or compressed air.

Once the inside of the case is cleaned you will see a noticeable drop in noise.

Regards.

I need to know how to take the shell off.

Click here for instructions from HP/Compaq on removing the case, well for this model the right hand side panel. You can get specific products to clean the inside of the tower, product name escapes me atm. Don't use a air compressor, it may clean it but will leave water behind. Which of course is not good for a computer.
