You have to really look at the casing but there should be screws holding it together ,just loosen the screws and around the area of the power supply carefully try to open the casing, you should be able to get it open enough to adjust the connection, now remember companys usually state that if the user tampers with the product it will void the warranty.otherwise if you trust in your skill you can try it or you can take it to a professional and it shouldnt cost that much. hope i could help.

Look for 2 or 4 screws on the back or side of the case. Remove these screws and the case will lift off.

Recently got a computer from a school that closed. No one knows the SYSTEM Password - they said they NEVER had one; can't get beyond that screen. What can I do?

If you mean the BIOS, the easiest (and preferred by every school kid) method is to unplug the power cord, open the case and remove the quarter sized battery from the motherboard. Replace the cord, and boot the machine. It should begin to boot into Windows. Once it does, power down the machine and replace the battery and close the case. Reboot and you are good to go.

If you are talking about a Windows password, you can use any number of password bypass tools. HIRENs Boot Disk is my go to for this job.

Cahinsaw has no power. Stepped on the cord. Probably pulled it loose. Loose pwer cord. How to open the case and remove the old power cord. power cord

Most times a break in the wiring is not visible and can occur inside only one wire in the mains power cord several centimeters from the power appliance. The first thing to ascertain is whether there is continuity between the plug pins to the junction. You will need to use a polarity tester. If you don't have a multi-meter you can use a small battery and torch bulb and run them in parallel. Test both the positive and negative wires. If one wire fails to provide continuity then rewiring will solve your problem.

Power supply unit gets power as light on the back shows but pc wont turn on. Have tried differnt PSU and pc turned on but have had unit checked and they said the PSU is working fine. Cant fit standard PSU...

Try this to get it at-least back on with your PSU that fits in the case. open up your computer case, locate your power supply. With the AC cord still plugged in , unplugged the connectors to your motherboard from the PSU and wait about 10secs. Then replugged them in. This should power on your PC.
Also, You wanna check around where the PSU connects to the motherboard and make sure there is no damage. No burning,Discoloration anything that could be potential damage.
Hope this works atleast to get the PC booting up.

Need to bypass the password to access windows...friends kid put password in and does not know what it is

You need to shut it down and remove the power cord. Press and hold the power ON button for about 5 seconds.

Open the case to the computer and do one of 2 things:

1) Pop out the CMOS battery which is about the size of a quarter and is usually a 3 volt battery. Leave it out for several minutes, then reinsert it in the slot. Close the case and connect the power cord. Power up and then you will have to enter the BIOS, verify your settings and do a Save and Exit. This will eliminate the password prompt. (Note:Different computers use different keys to get into the BIOS. It is usually an F key or the Delete key. Watch for the message as it boots.)

2) Most motherboards have a jumper labeled CLR or RESET. There are 3 pins together with a jumper on 2 of the pins. If the jumper is on pins 1 and 2, remove it and place it on pins 2 and 3 for 15 seconds. Then remove it and place it back on pins 1 and 2. Replace the cover, power up and again, enter the BIOS and verify your settings and do a Save and Exit.

Thanks for using Fixya.

There is a disc in the wii and it wont come out but the wii is working

Someone could have shuved 2 disc in there if it does not come out with the soft eject then you are going to need to open it up and see what is the malfuction. Check the drive and see if no one put 2 disc in there it happens if that is not the case and you cannot soft eject your going to need to open it up.

Printer wont turn on

First things to check are that the power cord is properly plugged in and the socket it turned on (yes, sounds obvious but has caught me out in the past).

Beyond that, if your cable has a fuse in the plug, check that... try a different power cord and obviously check that the socket does indeed work.

Locating a working power socket and new cable that you know works and then seeing if that gives you any juice is the only other option... If that doesn't work your printer would appear to be in printer heaven.

Power cord shorts out

Three possible issues,

1. the cord is bad, to test this go to local PC shop and buy a universal power cord test it with this cord. If it works then your cord was bad and you have purchased the correct part. If it doesnt work return cord for a refund.

2. The connector inside the laptop that the power cord connects to is loose and has a short in it. If its loose take it to a PC Shop that knows how to solder and have them reconnect it securely.

3. The laptop has incurred internal damage possibly from a fall or ruff handling. If this is the case the Motherboard may need to be replaced. If this is the case consider purchasing a new laptop.

Hope this helps,

Netdisk 160 gb ximeta won't get power

You may be right about a connection issue. But it's probably not a short. More likely, it's an open! Anyway, here's how to open the case:

There is a hole on each side of the NetDisk near the back. Face the back towards you, insert a blunt pencil tip or other blunt object able to fit in the hole on each side and press in. (Be gentle, these are plastic tabs on th inside)

At the same time, use your thumbs to slide the top half of the case away from you. (towards the front. Once you get ig toing, you can let go of the pencils and continue. forward with thte top of the case.
