Question about Kitchen Ranges
The general answer is yes, however if there is a lot of build up in the oven the self clean cycle may result in irritating smokey fumes. It's always best to clean the oven before there is a heavy build up, and at a time when you can open a window or two if the fumes start to bother you. If there is a build up on the floor of your oven now, you can try using a plastic spatula to scrape off some of the real heavy stuff before self cleaning. This should be a FixYa for you and your cats. Thanks.

We baked meatballs in the oven for a party and there was spill over onto the floor of the oven. When the oven gets very hot, the grease ignites. I tried to clean the floor first before turning on the self-cleaning, but even then, there was fire in the oven.. What can I do about this?
