I had the battery changed in New Zealand and the diaphram was not installed properly. A splash of seawater on a seawall got in to the works and it shorted. I had the watch cleaned promptly and the battery removed. How do I get it fixed?

The watch is very inreliable. Get it wet in the shower and it stops responding to the touch face for a few days. I took it windsurfing, the touch face is all but dead. I had it fixed twoce now. Definitely all show, no go. Some watches are a little fragile, this one is rediculous. A cheap Casio finctions much more reliably.

I suggest you have to find the decent watchmaker and do not use dealers services anymore. In my opinion you have been overcharged in both cases.
Consider replacing touch screen if it is damaged and then sell it on ebay (anyway you do not like it). For watch in working order you have to get quite a decent money. If you gonna sell it as it is, you will get pennies only.
Later just buy another make and forget about this unlucky example. :))

The 60-second counter hand shakes slightly when watch is tilted.

I don't think it is normal for hand to move when tilted. what about the warranty? Tissot must cover your watch under the warranty. Mind you I had a similar experience with Samsonite luggage and despite International guarantee, they did not honor. I have lost faith in some brand names.

Why would a tissot t-touch need an overhaul to replace a dead battery

These babies are notorious for going down the tubes with a battery change. I bet if you get it back it won't work with a new battery. Twice I have replaced batteries and the watch didn't work when I finished. One of them was my own watch, I think $450 is about half the price of a new watch and that is sad. Cool watch just not very long life

If there is any damage to the mechanism, then it is best sent back to the maker. It seems strange that the watch has broken after such short service; if you tell them your story they may look kindly on any repair charges.

I suggest you go to their web site and contact them about your problem http://www.vicence.it/vicence-watches.html

When I flexed my wrist backwards, the crystal on my titanium Skagen cracked!

This sounds rather unusual, as flexing the wrist can pull the pins out of the lugs but should not damage the crystal.

If it is still under warranty, then take it to a local dealer for watch.

I suspect that you have a rigid strap and this puts a strain on the watch. I gave up using leather straps 30 years ago because of continual troubles like yours (a flexible bracelet will prevent this) and have never had any similar problems ever since .

If you have to pay for a new crystal, then investing in an expanding braceletshould be considered.

Unfortunately it is not possible to make any estimates over the internet. As the warranty for the watch already expired years ago, there is no reason to find any particular Tag Heuer dealer. You can visit your nearest watch repair shop and ask for an estimate.

Left in to dealer to get new battery and new seal

First of all: every Tissot watch comes in a proper presentation box and the booklet is allways proper, nice looking and readable (mostly in black with the Swiss cross on it).
As you were swimming with the watch on your wrist, there is no guarantee anymore unless your watch has the screwdown crown.
This is why your dealer is aking to pay for the replacement.
By the way : crowns usually do not rust- the stems do, and stems are allways screwed into the crown, so, it's not possible to unscrew the stem if the stem is rusty(rust works as welding-unbelievable strong).
About that shower and dishwasher: Don't know why, but all watch manufacturers are making people to missunderstand all those writings.
If you have clear writing on the dial of watch, stating, lets say: 50 meters, then you can be sure- your watch will withstand those 50 meters of depth, and if it's not, you can send your warch back and ask for refund and even a little bit more.
If your watch has the writing: 5ATM- that means you can barely go close to the water, etc.
Please, do not rate me yet, as this is not a solution, just explanation.
If you gonna give me more specific details about your watch, I'll help you to sort it out.

"Tissot Touch" Touch screen failure

it all stems from the watch not actually being waterproof it's more water resistant than waterproof. The little indentations on the back that look like they are for a tool to unscrew it are actually holes i guess for the altimeter and meteo so it can sense pressure. Behind the back just behind the holes is a nylon gauze material and underneath this is a sensor slightly recessed and covered with some kind of waterproof substance. As far as i can see the problems lie here any water sweat or other foreign object than gets into this gauze will eventually will clog this gauze material which at first will affect the altimeter then the meteo. When the gauze has been clogged up severely i gets very dirty indeed which means when it gets wet it takes an age to dry out so if you wear it in the shower like i used to it will never dry out this causes the watch to malfunction quite severely. You can actually fix this problem yourself just get a very small flat screwdriver and lever the back off don't worry it's only a push fit and comes of easily you will see straight away a dirty damp smelly clogged up round piece of nylon gauze clean this up with a bit of WARM not boiling soapy water being careful not to disturb the pressure sensor and it's waterproof goo inside then dry it all and put it together
Hope this helps
