Question about Panasonic PT-56WX53 53" Rear Projection HDTV-Ready Television

Open Question

Projection TV makes a chirping noise

I have a Phillips 51-inch projection HDTV (Model No. 51PP9100). When I turn it on, there is no picture and no sound. There is only a chirping noise. From what I've been reading online, it seems like a convergence amp may have gone bad. How much does it usually cost to replace the amp(s) if that's the problem?

SOURCE: corner convergence for panasonic pt51hx40c projection tv

Yes there is a Service Code you need in order to set convergence and on this set it is not easy to enter! 1) Switch Antenna to cable (2) Set Sleep Timer to 30 mins,Exit menu Enter ch 124 (3) Now Press vol- on front of TV / A red CHK should appear on screen / NOW enter menu and turn sleep timer off / Exit again, now Press Power untill you see 0V00 press ch up untill you see 0V1 Then Press vol+ you should now have convergence Pattern on screen. To adjust use (ch- ch+ and vol- vol+) (cursor) moves to where you want to adjust (mute) locks place you want to adjust RTune changes R-G-B when done make sure you Save adjustments.

SOURCE: projection tv won't turn on after replacing convergence & resist

STKs are static sensitive, your tv though, also has a digital convergence board that if damaged will cause any new ICs and resistors to fail. you need to have a technician repair this. This is why many of the DYs that seek help on the net would save money, simply by calling on a repair shop. Julio milleniumtvsvc@gmail.com

Without examing the set. IN general as a techs when they hear chirping noise is an indication of what is know as a Bad Flyback transformer; You may possibly have a shorted Horizontal Output Transistor or both that will need replaceing.

No picture or sound - TV makes chirping noise

The chirping sound is the power supply coming up then breaking down because there is a short somwhere in the high voltage. The most common fail in this area is the horizontal output is shorted ( 237470 ) but what cause this short could be simple cold solder joints or the High voltage transformer ( 239111 ) If you have noway to "ring" the flyback change both parts

TV makes chirping noise, won't turn on!

That usually means a problem in the start up or deflection circuits. Diode, Horizontal ouput or driver transformer. What Chassis is this set, and I will be ableto give you some better information. Rca , GE and phillips need to be diagnosedwith the chassis number. Let me know the chassis.
