    Won't print black :

I have the same problem what can I do. Bought new black ink cartridge still won't print. I can change color and it will print.

While Kodak promises 50% reduction in ink costs, which they seem to deliver, the print head on the 5100 does cause problems. We have two of these printers and both have had multiple print head problems.

However, Kodak has replaced the print head each and every time, no questions asked, at no cost, with overnight courier to SW Ontario. One of the printers had another, unrelated, defect and they shipped a new printer - again - no questions, no bother, no cost, by overnight courier.

While I do recognize the print head issue as a pain, Kodak, at least for me so far, has come through with warranty backup 1000%.

Exactly the same problem, Tried two black ink cartridges, and several print head cleans. Updated the firmware. No change, the black still doesn't print properly. Simply the least reliable computer product I've ever bought. I'm going out to buy a new printer tomorrow.

In the UK call 0870 2430270

Tell them, because they will ask you to:

You have removed and reseated Black Cartridge

Carried Out Printhead Cleaning

Carried Out Calibration Test, and Black is missing

Did a Test Print (Press Photo & Copy together) and NO BLACK

and they will send a New Print Cradle overnight.

I also complained about wasting ink on multiple tests and got a new pack of ink as well.

The print head is bad and needs to be replaced. Contact Kodak, and they will send you a new print head free. Make sure that you go online to remove and install the new head. www.kodak.com/go/printheadsupport

SOURCE: no black print

I work for kodak with these printer's.
I provide tech support for them.
For this problem all i would recommend is doing the deep clean on the printhead twice, Doing it more then twice is a waste of ink and if it doesnt fix it the second time it won't.
Also replacing the black ink cartridge.
Also calibrating the printer has worked for me a few times.
I would not recommend cleaning the printhead manually, thats more of a chance to break it then fix it.
I would just recommend calling into the kodak tech support and getting a replacement printhead to fix that clogged nozzel problem.

SOURCE: printer will not print in black

Try reinstalling the software. If you are using the disc it came with make sure you check web installation. Do not plug in printer until told to do so.

Seems to be a common fault with Kodak EasyShare 5100/5300

Contact Kodak Support and go though the following tests:

Remove and re-seat Printer Cartridge(s) - Done

Clean Printhead - Done

Calibrate Printer - Test Sheet Not Complete!

Run Computer Colour Test - Done

They will then send you a new Print Head.

Our Kodak 5100 printer will not stop a red light flashing on ink

How often do you use the printer? I have the same problems with a Kodak AIO 5500. Go to the "Help Center" section of the Kodak.com website. This will lead you through troubleshooting and if the printhead is bad they should send you a new one under warranty. This is what I did.

Printer not printing black ink

Contact Kodak with your problem. The problem is in the print head. Kodak will send you a new print head free, then follow the instructions that are inclosed to change the print head. DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE IT WITHOUT READING THE INSTRUCTIONS. You may damage the new head and they will not replace it a second time for free.
