According to this webpage which gives the specs for the Asus, it does not have wireless capability built in http://www.cnet.com/uk/products/asus-essentio-cm5571-br003/specs/
It can easily be used with a wireless network connection either by adding a wireless network PCI adaptor, or a USB wireless network adaptor. Neither of these are expensive and the USB adaptor is often preferred as it only needs a spare USB port on the machine and the computer does not need to be opened up as it does for the PCI adaptor.
Hope this helps
A lan adaptor driver is fixable by downloading from the network site of the USB 2.0.
1. Lan adaptors are outdated versions incompartible with recent operating systems. Acquiring a new USB device or even wireless modems are the latest alternatives to lan computer connections of the past. Modern wireless modem connection have built in installation kits, also present is the computers capability to recognise to integrate to a network.
If this is the first time you have connected your Xbox 360 to Xbox Live, you will probably be prompted to apply an update. If there are no updates, the Xbox Live Connection page shows that you're connected to Xbox Live. Press the Y button on your controller to continue.
If testing the Xbox it says DNS failed, then update your NETGEAR router firmware:
From your computer, open an Internet Browser and navigate to http://kb.netgear.com to download the firmware for your router.
Log in to your NETGEAR router by browsing to http://www.routerlogin.net or http://www.routerlogin.com. Enter the username (admin) and password. By default, the password is password or 1234 unless it has already been changed.
Click Router Upgrade on the top left pane under Maintenance, browse for the firmware downloaded and click Upload.
Your laptop should have a switch on the front or side that switches your wireless radio on. If this has been done you must right-click on the wireless indicator and you should see en enable option. These are the only 2 places you can enable or disable the wireless radio.
I contacted Bigpond after my whole internet collapsed due to my amature abilities in fixing the internet. >_<"
yet they fixed my internet connection by disconnecting my current (DLINK DIR-300) router from the network. hmmmm... the technician also confirmed that my current broadband modem (2WIRE 2071-A) isnt capable of supplying a shared connection to more than one computer!! she also directed me towards a modem with an inbuilt wifi router that "supposedly" is the best option right now. (2701HGV-W) I'm a bit shaky and the stupid NETGEAR adaptor problem still exists - im willing to buy the new modem if its guaranteed to abolish this problem and give me a better internet wise outlook - please any suggestions will be appreiciated =)
Right click,on my computer,Click properties, click device manager (on the left),Click the Network adapter,Click on the wireless adapter and click enable. Then turn the wireless radio off and back on as you have done before or just restart the computer.
Goto - Control Panel - System - Device Manager - Network Adaptors. It will list any network device installed. If its listed then Right click the wireless device then click properties. This will then tell you if it is working properly and if the driver needs updating. Also it will tell you if the device has been disabled or not,if so just enable it
