Shut the machine off, and unplug it. On the back cover you will see smaller cover, maybe about 4 inches with two plastic tabs holding it in.
Remove that smaller cover, in there you will see 1 or 2 memory sticks. Remove them. Remember which it top and bottom.
With the memory removed, plug the machine back in and turn it on. Let it come al the way to ready.
Then shut off, unplug, reinstall the memory , plug it back in and turin it on. That should fix it. That is a software glitch and that process should resolve it. I have seen that several times.

Re: M20i Power Supply Replacement

You need to contact the manufacturer for the correct part, Fixya doesn't have parts or any way to look them up. Sorry.

Moved my M20i 20 feet now it won't copy or scan. Have done the Lock/Unlock of scanner. Worked before I moved it, but not now. Have upgraded the firmware and reset everything.

If you're using the PC to initialize the operation you want to do, and the USB cable is longer than 15 feet, then you will need to reduce the distance between the PC and the printer and use a shorter cable. USB cables should not be longer than 15 feet. Anything longer adds to data corruption and the printer refuses to work.
If you're using the on-printer dashboard to do the scanning/copying then it may happen that some wires came loose. See if the printer can print from the PC, to verify that the printing mechanism is OK. Then, turn off and back on the device and see if the scanner lights up and does the initial alignment. This should make some noise and move the scan head back and forward an inch or so (depending on the model). If the initialization of the scanner works that will mean there are no loose wires.
If the scanner does not go through the initialization procedure then probably some wires got loose inside and you'll need to open it and check the connections. If the scanner does initialize then you should run a self-diagnostic procedure from the printer dashboard. This should be a menu selection (usually in the Troubleshooting section). Check your users manual for the self-diagnostic procedure and how to run it.
Also, you may try to remove the toner/printing assembly and re insert it, just to jumpstart the diagnostic procedure that may then fix the problem by itself without throwing out any messages on the built in LCD.

Hi, I have a xerox workcentre which I cannot get to print or copy as the scanner seems to be locked and the only message showing is "scanner locked" does someone have a solution to get my printer...

Look underneath the scanner assembly, you will see a green or orange tab, this is the scan lock. Push it back and forth a few times, it may be stuck. Then reboot your printer.
Hope this helps.

Workcentre M20i Scanner Locked, I tried flipping the switch still doesn't work.

I am not sure which switch you are talking about.
The machine has a power switch, and a scanner lock switch.
The scanner lock switch is located in the area where you take the copies out of the exit area, it is just above the knuckles of your hand. If you lean over look under the bottom of that scanner, there is a green sliding selector switch with a picture of a pad lock. Power off the machine, then move it to the unlock side. Then turn on the machine, see how it works ok.
Good luck.

Scanner locked

Look on the bottom side of the scanner.
There is one and only one green item on the bottom of the scanner. That is the scanner latch.
Turn the machine off, push the latch in toward the back of the machine, then pull it out toward ourself until you hear and feel it snap.
That should take care of your problem.

My Office Jet 7310xi scanner failure

Does it scan from either the doc feeder or from the flatbed itself?
Can you COPY a page?

Are you using the buttons on the printer, or do you work from HP director?

Have a Xerox M20i. Copy comes out light. Toner should be OK. Prints fine. Scans fine.

You need to clean the scanner. You can try doing the shading adjustment to calabrate the scanner but most likely the mirrors are hazed up. Since you can print fine you eliminate the laser.
To do the shading adjustment, you need to press in order,,, Menu # 1934, You will see a " T "on the screen, that will be the tech mode. Press the machine status, then go to maintenance, then scroll to shading. Place 5 sheets of white paper on the glass and then run the shading adjustment. turn the machine off and on, and run copies again. But most likely you will have to take the scanner off and clean it.
If you want to clean the scanner let me know, I will send you directions on how to do that. The mirrors in that scan head tend to haze up.

At the lcd screen you can read this message: "ESCANNER DESABILITADO"what should I do?

The scanner probably got accidently locked. Turn the machine off, unlock the scanner, then turn back on.

Instructions on how to unlock the scanner are found here:

Broken Glass on a M20i

1. Oprn the front door, as if to replace the toner and remove the 2 screws above the toner and drum.
2. Turn the machine around. Disconnnect the one connector to the document feeder. A beige molex connector, lift and remove the feeder.
3. Remove the 6 screws from the back cover, remove the cover.
4. Disconnect the white ribbon cable and black connector with red wires attached to the upper part of the main board.
5. Under the scanner body, on the rear of the machine, locate the 3 screws that hold the scanner to the frame. One on the right, on in the middle and one on the left.
6. Grasp the scanner from the sides and pull back to release the scanner tabs from teh frame.

Once the scanner is removed you then have to remove the 3 screws holding the control panel to the scanner, then the 5 screws that hold the frame holding the glass. I am not sure where you can get that glass. But do a google search for "the parts drop". Give them a call, ask for Britt and see if he can come up with one for you.
