Win 7 with it´s automatic driver download from internet, corel studio 12 wen it starts shows transfer mini dv to dvd, and a normal firewire connection (from the right side of the lens -hidden under rubber cover-) that allows corel to use the camera automatically when the camera is on play mode.
wide spread problem with the CCD Assembly on this line of JVC products. In particular with the GR-DxxU line.According to some posts on the net regarding using TDK or other 3rd
party DV tapes, it may be linked to lens-cap dislpay messages poping up.
From what I read, you'll have to:
1. Take the tape out. 2. Get a JVC tape 3. Take the battery out. 4. Leave unplugged for a long time ( 1 day or more) 5. put battery in 6. load JVC tape.
I cannot confirm this, so all you can do is try this. The worst it can be is that it'll cost you the tape or it'll start working all together and you are happy again.
Hope this helps, Here is the link to JVC to find out information on a no charge repair for you camcorder http://www.jvcservice.com/service/custnoticecamcorder.asp?ReqType=CCD
There are 2 possibilities for that symptoms in JVC GR-D347U camcorder is either aparture in lens mechanism is stuck and does not pass image towards CCD Imager OR ccd imager itself got bad. Qualified camera tech can fix it because it requires expertise. If you want to fix it, download service manual from HERE for small fee, that will help you how to disassemble/ apart camera and part info etc. Thanks.
If you are referring to the JVC GR-DVL520, yes it does play Mini DV tapes, as well as records to them. It will not play Mini DV tapes that were recorded on an HDV camera. HDV is used by any Mini DV camera that records HD video.
