Question about Hitachi 42PD8700 42 in. Plasma Television
this morning i tried to turn on the plasma and it didnt turn on,i have checked the fuse and its ok,i was wondering if there is an internal fuse and how hard it is to get to it,i am very good at technical things so this would not be a problem for me to fix if i knew what the problem was.

I have a 42 inch plasma and I was watching tv last night on it and suddenly it turned off on it's own. I tried turning it off and on and nothing happened. Then I tried to unplug it and replug it and nothing. My remote does not work either. Anyone know what exactly happened? Did my screen blow or what? I hardly ever use the tv and I only had it on from 8:30 p.m. - 10:20 p.m. and it turned off. All the other tv's in my house worked fine - I checked them. Also, my dvd player and cable box is on the same power cord and both of them work. Any solutions or help would be most appreciated!!! Does it just need to cool down or did I burn something out? Help!!!

Depending on the way you hook up the media or cable box, this is what you look for, if you are in the video area then look for V1, V2, V3 or the right one if you are on the RF connection then it also has an A and B side. Try each

probably needs new scan drive board along with upper and lower buffer boards. it wont be cheap and its best to have a tv shop do it.

A common problem for these is bad capacitors in the power supply, Remove the back from your TV and look at the power supply on the left hand side.
You will see roughly around 9 x capacitors that are bulged / domed shaped on top usually these are valued at 3300uf 10V any that have bulged or leaked a brown like substance should be changed.
This will cure the problem as they overheat being sat next to a heatsink that gets very hot!
Try and change them for the same 3300uf but a higher voltage.if otherwise, the power supply board is dead, u know basic electronics' and soldering? Most of the times, the power supply board just have dead leakages gases capacitors. These capacitors always bulges up on it top,or puff up on it top.Replaced these gases leakages capacitors will get your TV power stable, and work again.Or tries websites like Shopjimmy.com,Ebay.com to buy a whole refurbish power supply board for the replacement.
Hope this will help to fix the problem and do take care in handling the problem.....
