Monitor and LCD detection problem on HP DV6000

I've a strange problem with a HP Pavilion DV6000 dv6115ea, when I boot up the laptop I get a blank screen but windows boots normally.
Now if I connect an external monitor and press fn+f4 i can work fine with it, obviously lcd is still blank.
But if I connect the external monitor and I turn on the notebook, I get no signal on it and the notebook doesnt boot to windows.
External monitor and lcd panel work fine with other notebook.
Perhaps is a bad capacitor or transistor that detects what device is connected isnt it?
Can someone help me?
Thanks

Bought a new computer and it just has a usb type port how do I connect the moniter

Depends on the monitor does the monitor have a hdmi input port ?
The usb type port you describe - I suspect is a HDMI port.
The monitor I am guessing has a vga only input
as you did not provide us with the make and model numbers of any of your devices involved I can only guess on the situation ?

You might be able to go to a computer retailer and ask them about a HDMI to VGA adapter for your monitor if this is the situation you have

1720 s.m.a.r.t HDD detects imminent failure the computer cant boot-up.

if you haven't got a good back up, external to the hard drive, it may be too late
dead hard drives are mostly un recoverable
take it to a computer repair shop to make sure that it is not a boot problem
if the hard drive is failing, replace it with a solid state hard drive that has no spinning discs to fail
