It keeps saying bad disc when I know full well that the disc is fine. Once it eventually loads (which at the moment, it's not doing), it plays absolutely fine. Cleaned the lens, dismantled dvd player etc. What can I do?!
I bought Andre Rieu DVD's & wanted to play them on my Teac PL-D2000 DVD player, but the dvd player keeps on displaying "BAD DISC". How can I resolve the problem?

Normally I would say clean the laser lens, but I actually had the exact same model with the exact same problem, and that didn't work. I was able to get mine to work sometimes by turning it off and on and unplugging it, but even after opening it up, re-lubricating the gears, and replacing a few capacitors near the reader, I never did find a permanent solution. I guess this isn't what you wanna hear, but I think its an untraceable problem with the motherboard.
Hi, Some players are picky with certain cdrw/dvdrw discs. You might have to experiment with different brands/types for your discs. I used to have a cd player (teac) which would just refuse certain brands cd-r discs but play others just fine. I know it sounds odd, but once I noticed which ones work and which ones don't I never looked back. Also, have the "problematic" discs been recorded on just one recorder? Have you tried playing discs recorded on a different recorder? Also - I'm sure you've already tried it-it's always a good idea to clean the laser just in case. Hope this helps+ Good luck, Raf
first i downloaded the manual and read it through... it mentioned wrong disc but did not give any solution so i rang Teac and they told me it was a malfunction and by the time i paid for them to look at it i could buy a new dvd..... so i am going to buy a new dvd..... not really a solution but the only one available
Sorry, no suggestion other than don't buy Samsung. That's my conclusion after owning the same model. It worked fine for a while, but now won't load any DVD... usually. Sometimes it will play one, but more often it won't. Mine tries to load ("Loading") for a long time, I hear the DVD spinning, then ultimately the screen displays "This disc cannot be played" or something to that effect.
I WENT BACK LATER, ROTATED THE DISC ABOUT HALF A TURN AND IT LOADED. TOOK IT OUT PUT ANOTHER IN AND IT LOADED JUST FINE ALSO. MAYBE IT WILL KEEP WORKING OK.
the belt is broken for the carocel (the disc can not change) it is plobabely stuck b/tween discs therefore it keeps opening and closing saying error . eventually it turns off.
can be fixed with a small elastic goody hair tie w/o metal clasp
