I also have the same problem and also only with glossy papers. Other normal paper is getting printed very well and without any problem. Only glossy papers are giving probelms. I also approached the HP service centre bu they are also helpless and saying that the paper we are using is not meeting HP 1280 printer specification which is totally a wrong statement. I also tried to rectify the problem but failed as it seems to be hardware issue. The glossy paper is properly loaded by the printer but get jam as soon as it tried to come under the printer head. Printer tried many times to move the paper ahead but falis and give a error message.

Hey there This printer tries to messure the paper margins. Glossy is too reflective so U need to:
1 - clean the calibration sensor - located in the right side of the carrige assembley, or,
2 - deactivate the meassuring procedure from the drivers.
Good luck, and Happy Holidays.

Sharp mx3110n printer won't use bypass tray? Trying to print on glossy paper using that tray and it won't, it automatically switches to tray 1. Or can I just put glossy paper in tray 1?

Hello Laura,
Here is the pdf that explains how to set up th bypass tray; http://support.appstate.edu/sites/support.appstate.edu/files/MX3110%20USE%20SPECIAL%20PAPER%20IN%20THE%20BYPASS.pdf

The text of it is as follows;

TO USE SPECIAL PAPER IN THE BYPASS
? Press either the picture of the copier or press
paper select
? Load paper in the bypass
? Make sure the correct size shows up under
bypass tray
? If paper is not just plain paper press type and
size
? Choose paper type
? If you are printing to the bypass from your
computer you must also tell the print driver
under the paper tab what type of paper is in
the bypass if its not just plain paper
? The copier and the PC must match paper
types
? Press the X button to Accept

Good Luck!

Paper jam

Unplug the printer from power for ten minutes.

Remove cartridges and put them back, open all doors and close them back.

Won't pickup and print glossy photo paper but does with ordinary paper

Please read all of the following before beginning.

Try these steps:
Click on:
>Start
>Control Panel

>Double Click Printers

>Right ClickYour Printer icon

Note: Some users keep a printer icon in the taskbar (lower right hand corner). You can access your printer from there as well.

>Click Printer Preferences in this little menu
>Look down the window to Type is...(a pull down menu)
>Click Other, then choose your paper type
>Click done or ok, whatever you show

When you load your paper, make sure you fan the edge really well.
Be sure to reverse these steps and choose plain paper when you are finished with glossy paper.

I hope this works for you. If it does not, please let me know.

Photo Paper keeps jamming

It's the top rollers, the paper is too slick to get through them. I'm using HP photo paper, in an HP printer. It needs to do a 180, but gets jammed right where it prints, so the paper never makes it to the ink. It's an engineering problem by HP. I suggest putting a rough surface on the top edge of the photo paper, something removable but rough enough for the printer to pull the photo paper through.

Glossy A4 paper will not feed. Is it too heavy?

Actually, if printer is new, printer can feed up to 350 grm. But if pick up rubber at paper feeder mechanics had distort/loose thickness, it can't. Try to use 210 gsm glossy paper. Or, if you wish to use 280 gsm, pull down paper while printer grab paper.

It says to load paper in the MP tray

Pull down the front cover where it says Brother, the manual feed input is behind that panel (above the main input tray)

Kodak 5300 wont print on glossy side of photo paper

I just sussed this issue out. On the front of the printer tray there is another pull out tray, this opens up and must activate the photo printing for A4 because it stops the paper falling on the floor once printed (cos once printed on photo paper it may still be wet). As soon as I opened the tray (and it then opens again - you'll see what I mean) it printed A4 photo paper perfectly
Hope this helps others

Paper jam issue

We had the same problem in our office. We tried cleaning it with compressed air but not much was done. Finally be changed the paper we were using with a less glossy and this seems to work. The printer has a roller with some kind of glue on it that pulls in the paper and if the paper is a bit glossy it can't stick on it.However sometimes it jams but once in a while now.
