We have a broken battery compartment 'lid'. Is it possible to get it fixed? We know it can be removed easily. Where can we get a new piece? It is model no. 6320. I will be in the U.K. for 2 weeks over the Xmas period. I reside in Turkey.

You must contact the manufacture of your camera. With any of the brand names they will sell you the replacement part, or send you to a rep who can sell you the part. If the part is not a user changeable part they will tell you to send the camera to their service rep for service.

SONY DSC-W800- Memory card door flops open very easily. Is there a replacement spring, door, or part combo that I can buy to remedy this?

Carefully inspect the door latch mechanism (you may need a magnifying lens) for dirt, wear, or broken tabs. If you're lucky, all you would have to do is pick out dirt or lint with a pin or cotton swab (I recommend removing the battery before cleaning operations).

If the latch is worn out or a retainer tab is broken, your options are limited to salvaging parts from a similar camera (lots of taking apart and reassembly work), fabricating and gluing on a replacement piece, or using a strip of tape to hold the door closed. The tape could be Velcro loop with a strip of adhesive-backed hook material on each side of the compartment door..

Can battery compartment be repaired when tabs are broken off which hold lid down?

possibly...if it is the body where the tabs are broken off the manufacturer (Olympus) might be able to replace the body shell. I'd check with them.

Internet download manager serial number

laptop s/n (serial number) is usually found on a label on the back of the computer, along with the manufacturer's p/n (part number). Rarely this label will be stuck onto the sides, lid, or around the keyboard area. It might be located inside the battery compartment, and necessitate removing the battery. There is also the possibility that the label has become illegible, or is not present.
I do not know of another way of locating the s/n

Battery pieces

Not a minor repair. You have to remove two circuit boards and their attached wiring to replace, plus the camera covers

Printer message cover open

There is no replacement part available from Dell. Temporary fix is removing the hinge spring under the small concave white plastic piece (you can remove that also) allows the cover to close. The nub under the cover has to press a "lid closed" switch which is not possible if the lid hinge is broken.

Mechanism that reports closed door is broken, HP 6988. This is a plastic arm that engages the cartridge door and tells the printer that the door is closed.

There is a DYI fix for this that is simple to do.

Looking at the front of the printer, you will need to remove white panel in the RIGHT side. (Pull outward on the bottom of the panen and it should easily come off without damaging it.) This will reveal the small gears that are attached to the printer and the lid.

There is a small plastic piece sticking thru the side of the printer and is moved by the gears. When the printer lid is open, the plastic piece is allowed to move down towards the bottom of the printer. When the lid is closed, the plastic piece moves towards the top of the printer.

In the printer I just fixed, the plastic gear was partially broken and the part that should contact this plastic piece was missing.

The fix:

1. Use tape an tape the plastic piece to the top of the hole so it will always register the lid as being closed

2. Keep the side panel off and, when you close the lid, make sure the plastic piece is lifted and held in place by what remains of the gear.

This fix just saved my customer from having to discard over 10 ink jet cartridges - easily several hundred dollars.

While this fix is not supported by HP, it will allow you to continue to use the printer.

1. Change the battettes for a fresh set --No Go? 2 Do ensure they are correctly inserted 3. Remove batteries and check the contacts both on the cover and base of the compartment. 4. With a piece of foil put a piece of it under the compartment lid to pack it out. No Joy? Still under warranty take/send it back Not under warranty- buy the next one.
