I have a 2420 acer travelmate that heats up very quickly and does not start up.It reaches the xp window and cuts out.can you help

You have to probably remove all the screws under the computer. remove the hdd memory and etc. The next part will be to check near the keyboard if there is something to pull out, underneath that there will be more screws to pull out and you will the cmos battery.

I lost the driver cd for acer 2424nwxci
On this page:

select your laptop series: Notebook --> TravelMate --> TravelMate 2420
and you were able to download the drivers (for Windows XP).

Acer Travelmate 2420 PROBLEMS :(
Try to turn off automatic updates. Right-click on MyComputer icon, select properties, Click on Automatic Updates, turn off automatic updates. Maybe it's trying to download updates automatically and this will slow down the computer. If that is the problem, you have to make sure you get all your updates manually first and then change back settings to automatically download updates afterwards. Please let me know if this still doesn't help.
