Question about ATI Diamond Multimedia Stealth RADEON HD 2400 PRO, (512 MB) PCI Express Video Card
My HP Media Center m7658n (XP Pro) had Realtek HD Audio installed on board. After installing the ATI Radeon HD 4650, the Realtek disappeared. I tried reinstalling the Realtek drivers through HP's Application and Driver Recovery. The driver will show it has installed. I can find it in "Add or Remove Programs". However, in Device Manager, it's not there. In Control Panel, I've tried to "Add Hardware", as I've found Realtek amongst the list. This attempt begins to load the files, then the system crashes and begins to reboot.
In "Sounds and Audio Devices Properties", under the "Volume tab, it shows "No audio device". Under the "Sounds" tab, it lists "No...devices" (in gray). Under the "Voice" tab, "No...devices (in gray). Under the "Hardware" tab, there is an "Unknown Device". When I double click on it, it identifies the manufacturer as Realtek. On that tab, under "Device status", it states, "No drivers are installed for this device". Still on this tab, under "Device usage", it states "Use this device (Enable)".
When I look at the "Properties" tab, there are four multimedia devices listed. Clicking the "+" sign next to each one shows "Realtek High Definition Audio". Click on "Realtek High Definition Audio", click on "Properties", and the "Realtek High Definition Adio Properties" window opens. For each of these miultimedia devices, the Status:" indicates "Driver is enabled and functioning properly".
When I click on the "Driver" tab, it shows the "Driver Provider" is Realtek. However, when I click on "Driver details", it shows "Logitech Inc." is the provider??? I do have some Logitech products loaded on my system.
When I try to update the driver, my system crashes, and reboots automatically.
Everything worked fine until I installed the new graphics card and software. I simply was after the 1360 x 768 native resolution my new monitor called for. My monitor looks great, but my Media Center is dead in the water, as are my audio files.
Your assistance will be greatly appreciated.
