If it sat for 3 yrs without starting then chances are it is the fuel. I belive most of the older toyotas had a drain on the gas tank, I would reccomend draining the gas and replacing the fuel filter to start with, just keep in mind that if it has an electric fuel pump there is a good possibility that it has gone bad from sitting. P.S. if there is no drain and you can't get the fuel pump to work and pump out all the old gas then I would suggest getting a universal fuel pump to remove all the old gas, or you can try to syphon the gas out and is a pain. Hope this helps you out, if you have any more questions then add a comment and I will get back to you.

First find the diagnosic connector in the engine compartment, then install a jumper wire between +B and FP terminals in the diag connector then turn on the ignition and listen for the fuel pump or feel for pressure at the line near the fuel filter. Also I would reccomend adding a few more gals of gas to mix with the sea foam and whats left of the old gas and if you can get the fuel pump to work, see if you can remove a fuel line at the engine and activate the fuel pump to flush all old gas from the lines. If you are using the old fuel filter it is probably full of old gas that you will not be able to remove.

Hello, I am sorry to say spend money but I would highly reccomend replacing the fuel filter. It can become varnished inside and can cause low fuel pressure which will make it hard to start, if it will start at all. Next thing I would do, if you haven't already, is make sure the fuel pump is coming on, after that I would check the fuel pressure to make certain the fuel pump is pumping enough fuel. Depending on the results of that determines what to do next. Sorry, I wish I could point you straight to the problem but we need to verify that the filter is good and the fuel pump is doing what it should first. Anytime a vehicle sits for a long period and does not want to start/run I always start with the fuel system and verify that everything is working correctly, and these are the simplest things to check. Let me know if you need more information.

Check the fuel pressure. A slight dip in pressure will keep the engine from starting. When is the last time you did a tune up? Even if you are getting some spark you might not have enough. New plugs, wires, distr. cap could solve this problem. Or try a new fuel filter. When diagnosing a car problem always do simple cheap things first, as this usually ends up being the cause.

SOURCE: replace front brake pad 2003 toyota 4 runner

Diagram is unnecessry.
Pull both front wheels
Work one at a time leaving the other for reference
Find the retention spring ... its a paperclip thickness wire spring... dislodge center retention loop and undo from both ends which engage brake pad retention rods.
Pull the rods out
Pull the old pads out... laying everything on the ground
Use scrap wooden wedges to pry between the rotor and the caliper ...inside and out until the calipers are fully withdrawn. Use the new pads to measure if they are far enough back.
Note... the brake fluid will have dropped in the master cylinder over many months of wear... do not fill it. When the calipers are pushed back they will fill the reservoir again... one wheel at a time.
Be sure to identify the correct pad based on what you took out and what is on the other side (if you screwed up the layout)
Make sure to take the old antisqueek backing plate from the old pad and place it on the new pad. They don't use lubricant on these anymore.
Replace the pads... the retention rods... then the retention spring
Do the other side
Then progressively step on the brake peddle until full tension is felt
Check the master cylinder reservoir... probably needs no additional fluid.
New pads will register in existing ridges in each disc in no time at all.
You should check the discs to see if they need to be replaced during this operation...using some calipers

SOURCE: 93 4 Runner fuel problems

Don't worry, there is only about 100 things that can keep the EFI system from working properly. Try this 1st: My '91 4runner wont run properly, or at all, when the Air cleaner / intake assembly is not hooked up / installed, it needs the MAS air flow sensor to measure the incomming air or it will not run. Then, Are you getting positive pressure of fuel to to the engine from the tank yet or is the pump just running? Thread a pressure gauge to the fuel rail on the engine & check pressure with key on / engine off (should be between 35-45 psi) Check / replace the fuel filter & try disconnecting the fuel & return lines lines @ both the tank & Throttle body & blowing out with 25-50 psi air to ensure the line is clear. You may need to vacuume test the fuel pressure regulator on the fuel rail. If you are still having problems, it can be the injector(s), the fuel pump relay or any of the sensors in the EFI system including the VSV sensor, which measures the fuel pressure & relays the info to the ECM (computer). To check & test all of the sensors it will be worth the $20-30 Haynes or Chilton Manual. start with the easy stuff though, then work up to the sensors & electronics

If you have spark and fuel, the next stop would be either the crank position or camshaft position sensors.Either one of those can stop the engine from firing.
