If you have an older single core computer, I would stick with XP. If you are buying an Op system for a new custom built rig, go with Vista. Just make sure you put as much ram as you can in the box, I would recommend 64 bit with more than 4 gigs. I run 8 gigs and never have any problems that people claim they have with Vista, mine has not crashed once.

Sir,i have dell latitude D630 laptop, it comes with window vista, but now i have window xp but my blutooth and wifi does not working,i try some driver from net but it still no working,i have intel core 2...

A lot of your newer computers with Vista or Windows 7 do not have driver support for XP. This means that you won't have full-functionality with XP installed. Unfortunately, there is no easy way to fix this. You may attempt to find out the exact model number of your board to attempt to install the individual drivers.
However, my recommendation is to either install back to Vista or upgrade to 7. Honestly, 7 works better than Vista and is, I think, better than XP.
Hope this helps.

Have widows xp do i need windows vista

Hi,

Windows Xp and Vista are 2 different Operating system. If we compare both, XP is still far better than Vista. But, if we talk about security, Vista is more secure than XP.

So, it depends on user to user.

I would still prefer XP.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Slow laptop dv 9208 w vista

If you're having Vista, you will need 1gb RAM minimum. Vista is resource intensive, concentrated more on graphics, and a lot of Hardware compatibility issues. Windows XP is fine and better as of now which runs great with 1GB of ram and a pretty processor of 2.0 ghz ...If you think of speeding up ur lappy better go for XP .increasing ur RAM will increase the number of apps that you can run productively at a time.

Have Windows ME,seems to be outdated. Do not make software for it anymore. Would like to upgrade to Vista. Can't hook up anything to it. Have to be Vista or XP. Which is better for a Compaq Presario 5000

The Compaq Presario 5000 is not powerful enough to run Vista so XP is your best bet. I assume you have the standard 512MB RAM which will be fine for XP Once you outgrow that you'll need to go for more powerful hardware. By that time the new Windows 7 should have been officially released.
